Review summary
Once we got word that my mother had been taken to the emergency department, the Princess staff was extremely helpful. They expedited our embarkation onto the ship so that we could take care of our phone communication while on the ship. Having to advocate for my mother over the phone in the lines wouldn't have been pretty! They were so kind. We were praying that she just had a UTI. In the end my mother had a brain bleed and was on her way to having a craniotomy performed. We had to leave our beautiful room and miss three days of rest at sea (sigh). This trip was planned many years ago, but off the ship we went. The ship was performing the Muster drill when we flew off the ship with suitcases in tow. The look of confusion on everyone's face was difficult to bear as tears streamed down my face. The next six months were followed with a severe brain infection, another surgery due to the infection, antibiotics, continuous seizures, maximum doses of anti-seizure medications, forced discharge from the hospital, uncaring doctors and so on. The way are elderly are treated in America is nauseating! There is no value placed on their lives and I cannot believe what is allowed! My mother has continued to slowly improve and we are hopeful she will start walking within the year. We have caretakers for her 24 hours a day. I am sorry for the rambling. I am thankful for Princess. My only advise would be to get insurance on every trip you book. We had the Princess Protection plan and received $2200.00 when we pain $2700.00. There are cheaper plans that cover way more items (look up: trip insurance dot com). I hope I can get over my PTSD from that trip and take another trip. I will try to stay closer to home next time. Safe travels and hopefully we will see you on the high seas!Embarkation
