Review summary

This wasn't the experience I was expecting from Royal Caribbean. Not a crew issue but certainly a management issue by overbooking while short staffed. Yes I know staffing is very difficult but the price I payed was for a usual RCCL experience. We did not get it. Ship needs to be refurbished.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Had the Key it went really smooth

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
My time dining was really a mess the first few days of the cruise. Specialty restaurants were very good, as was the food in the MDR, however, this cruise was overbooked for the number of staff. While the staff tried to keep up it was unbearably slow the first few nights though it was good by the end of the cruise.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Played in the slot tournament and bingo. Did mini golf and trivia. Did not do the surfing though it looked like everyone was having fun.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
This seemed a bit lacking though the ice show was fabulous

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
They were so overwhelmed but they worked so hard to provide the best service the could. ) stars for management for overbooking while short staffed

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Layout was good. In dire need of an update

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Great location, very clean, but linens, towels and floor covering in dire need of update

Ship tip

They really need to get there act together on staffing before I would recommend

Disembarkation

It was a mess. They blamed on immigration not sure what the problem was. Without Key would have probably taken till 10:30 to get off the ship

We were on the same cruise and couldn’t agree with you more. Stood in line at main dining room for 2 hrs first 2 nights. It was a mess. Beds were very hard. Disembarkation was horrible as I didn’t get off the ship until around 11. Staff was great and worked so hard. You could tell they were short staffed. I was told many went back to Ukraine to fight. So sad. Although I was disappointed I still had a great time! Next cruise will definitely be in a bigger class ship.

We will be going on the Explorer very soon. Hope things get better. We try to use patience when cruising. The return to cruising as it was before, will take some time. Thanks for sharing your information.

The pandemic was a hard road to come back from. Still attempting to get staff back and supplies has been troublesome for ALL cruise lines. Thank you for your review.

Appreciate your feedback. Glad you enjoyed your cruise even if it wasn’t quite what you hoped for.

Do not understand why everyone is worried about debarkation, I just wait until the end and everything is smooth and easy to find bags
