Review summary

This was our second trip to Bermuda on Empress; for whatever reason we were not as thrilled with her the second time around. It seemed more crowded, and the smoking areas seemed to encroach on the non-smoking areas more. We do like the size of the ship, and most especially the 7-night length sailing out of Philadelphia, since we were able to drive and avoid the dreaded "airport adventure." We wished we could stay longer. Cruising to Bermuda is delightful, the best of two experiences. The round-trip voyage was extra-smooth this time.

Ports of call

St. George's, Bermuda

5 out of 5
St. George's is the loveliest area on the island. We very much enjoyed the museum in the old "Globe Hotel," complete with reenactors. Lovely people, fascinating to learn about the Civil War activities in Bermuda
Don't Miss: We loved it all.

Hamilton, Bermuda

5 out of 5
Hamilton is wonderful, filled with gorgeous, pastel-colored homes and buildings and pleasant, welcoming people. The best feature is their excellent bus and ferry system: one can buy a pass for however many days and use it on both ferries and buses to go anywhere.
Don't Miss: Maybe the beautiful beaches, hard to say

Pros: The pleasant, helpful staff and crew, the beautiful "Strike up the Band" lounge, our fantastic waiter and assistant waiter, and the food

Cons: The miniscule staterooms, especially the bathrooms - but we did find places for everything.
