The cruise had many of the special touches Disney is famous for, but the food and drink were not up to par. I would not recommend this itinerary because the seas are so rough coming out of Vancouver and well into Oregon so early in the year. I want to give the ship another try on a different itinerary because I think it has great potential under better circumstances.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Getting on the ship was easy. Good directions from both port and Disney employees. We stayed in the hotel right above the port, so their bell staff took our bags from the room to the ship. Super easy!
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Palo was wonderful as always. The rotational dining was hit and miss. Odd ingredients were used at times. The food wasn’t as good as it normally is on Disney. I suspect there were issues with the ingredients because of coming from Australia and having been at sea so long.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
The cruise was all sea days. We played a lot of trivia. Only one day was both warm and sunny enough for outdoor activities. The pool and hot tubs were clean and well heated. The spa was the best. We did the couples cabana escape. It was worth every penny! We also enjoyed the rainforest room thermal suite and visited daily.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
There were some technical difficulties with one of the stage shows. The performers were generally good. Because the seas were so rough the first half of the cruise, staging was difficult at times.
Children's Programs
We don’t have children.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Service was good but not as good as previous cruises. The last day was very slow with lots of mistakes on orders. Our cabin steward did a great job under challenging conditions (very rough seas for half the cruise).
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Easy for me to navigate with a mobility disability. Ship was spotless with constant cleaning going on.
Cabin / Stateroom
2 out of 5
I would not stay in this cabin again. While the location was convenient, it was always noisy because it was right next to a crew work area. Lots of banging and movement even as late as 2:00 AM.
Ship tip
Take advantage of the adult amenities. Disney does a fantastic job of making the cruise experience work for people of all ages.
Worst debarking I’ve ever had. It took way too long and felt chaotic. The Wonder is a relatively small ship, and we were the only cruise disembarking at the terminal. San Diego needs to do better with technology and organization.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review . We will use Disney for the first time out of San Diego very end of April as taking a 5 yr old grandchild and family for birthdays. Sorry to hear about dining use to Celebrity and Hollander American MDR
Disney cruise food is not that great to begin with so if it’s not up to that standard then must be not good. I’m sure relocation cruises are tough on crew.
