The Wish is a wonderful ship in so many ways. It has wonderful food, interesting venues, and an outstanding crew. It’s a shame the designers didn’t put more thought into making it accessible to everyone consistently.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Port Canaveral does an excellent job with getting people onto ships efficiently. I appreciated that Disney did everything they could to make it easier for me as someone with mobility challenges.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Food was outstanding! We especially enjoyed the Palo brunch, but the main dining rooms were quite good as well. Mickey waffles at the buffet were light and fluffy.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
We enjoyed the character meet and greets as well as trivia. The weather wasn’t great, but even if it had been, using the adult pool would have been a challenge for me because of the way the ship is laid out. It’s almost impossible for someone who can’t climb stairs to reach the adult area.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
Always first rate on Disney ships. We especially enjoyed Aladdin and The Little Mermaid. Life musicians were also top-notch.
Children's Programs
We did not travel with children.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
All Disney personnel were kind, helpful, and professional. They are definitely the heart and soul of Disney cruises.
Ship Quality
2 out of 5
This was the hardest part for me. While the ship was sparkling clean, the layout is not good for people with mobility challenges. Corridors are very narrow. Elevators are tiny and narrow, and there is no set of them in the center of the ship. Often times hallways and passages would end with no indication this was about to happen. There were also some strange angles I had to attempt with my wheelchair. There is no elevator that goes to the deck where the adult pool is located. It’s a shame that such a beautiful ship with so many wonderful entertainment options was not designed with universal access in mind.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
We loved our cabin! It was the roomiest interior out of her head. It was ideally located and very quiet. DCL beds are always comfortable. Nicole, our cabin steward, did a great job of keeping everything cleaned up.
Ship tip
Go to Palo. Even if you’ve been on other ships, the fact that this one is also a steakhouse makes it even more wonderful.
