Review summary

We really enjoyed this cruise. So much so that we booked another one for September. There are so many things to do that you can't really do them all in 3-4 days. We are booked again for The Wish. I can't wait until they start doing longer cruises on this ship. You really need 7 days to be able to experience everything on this ship.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was very easy. This was out first Disney cruise.Cruise. We arrived via shuttle from the rental care service. You drop your bags off with the porters outside then go in. Our port arrival time was 11:30am. We arrived a few minutes early. They have lines set up outside with the port arrival times and you go inside. They were accepting passengers with port arrival times up to 12:30pm. Once inside we went through the lines to check in. They verified our passports and boarding pass and we completed the health survey. Total time in line until we got to a cast member was around 15-20 minutes. Once we were through we went through security and upstairs to the boarding area. We were boarding group #8. They hadn't started boarding yet so we went outside to the observation deck. It was about a 30 minute wait before we were able to board. They even let us go on before calling our boarding group.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5

Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge

5 out of 5

This is a must do for any Star Wars fan. The drinks are themed to different planets. They range in price from $16-$5000. Yes, $5000. Your average drink price is $16-25. This isn't a place I would sit and have multiple drinks (due to the price), but it is a unique experience to go and have maybe one drink.

Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure

5 out of 5

The dinner show was amazing. I've watched both movies but I wouldn't call myself a Frozen fan. The singers were very talented and I enjoyed watching the show. I had Elsa's Royal Baked Scallops (shrimp tarragon bisque, rainbow carrots, and leeks in a flaky pastry) as an appetizer and the pan-seared Chilean sea bass as an entree. Both were very delicious.

Worlds of Marvel

4 out of 5

We loved the theming of this restaurant. The food was not as good as the food at Arendelle. I don't even remember what I ate. I do remember the dessert though. It was very good. It was a dairy free option the waiter brought me that was white cake with fresh fruit and a lemon curd that was delicious.

Onboard Activities

AquaMouse

This was a great water ride. You really do get wet on this. It is fast. Our only complaint is that we wish it was longer.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All of the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
This ship only has 2 sets of elevators, one set is forward and the other is aft. They are small but there are a lot of them.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We were in room 7082. It was Cinderella themed. It is a standard verandah room that included the split bathroom. The bed is a queen size bed and not two twin beds like most cruiselines. The couch did convert to a full size bed. The bed was very comfortable. It was the best sleep I've ever had on a cruise ship. This is a new ship and it is still doing the inaugural sailings. There room was clean and there was plenty of storage and outlets by both sides of the bed.

Ship tip

The elevator buttons are sensored so you don't have to actually touch them. Just hover your finger over it for a few seconds for it to detect it. When you get in the elevator stay in the area with the wallpaper. There were a lot of times when people leaned against the wall inside and it hit the buttons for every floor.

Ports of call

Castaway Cay (Disney Private Island)

4 out of 5
We did a rum tasting on the island. When we booked the tasting we thought it would be onboard but since we were docked at Castaway it was on the island. We didn't do much as we aren't really beach people. I only did 4 stars as being a first timer there weren't many excursions left for us to do. Disney works on a tiered system and releases access to excursions based on your Castaway Club level.

Nassau, Bahamas

4 out of 5
I didn't want to leave a bad review but we only got off the ship for about 40 minutes. I was looking to get a charm for my Pandora bracelet. We went straight to the Pandora store and went back onto the ship.

Port Canaveral, Florida

4 out of 5
The Wish was the only ship at the Disney port. We did not do an excursion at the port but we did do two days at Disney and the runDisney 10K the morning of embarkation. It was easy to get to the port.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We took our luggage off ourselves. It was an easy and quick process. The three main restaurants are the only dining options open for breakfast. You eat breakfast at the restaurant you had dinner at the night prior. If you have early dining then you eat at the first seating and late dining eats at the second seating. You disembark after breakfast.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm going on my first Disney cruise in a month and you've given some good info for first timers.

Glad you like the ship and it would be awesome if Disney added a chime or bell announcement saying an elevator is coming rather than you miss it. It was an awesome ship but us seasoned Disney cruisers are fond of the Dream.... she's my go to happy place!!!
