It was probably the best cruise I've been on. I would go on more, but Disney can and does charge a premium for these cruises, but, it is a premium experience.
If you're looking for a top-shelf cruising experience, this may be the ship for you.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embarkation at Port Canaveral is always pretty easy, especially when you're at Disney's terminal.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Food and drink were top notch. The menus and restaurants were creative and the attention to detail was incredible to behold.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
There's a movie screen on the pool deck, there are character meet-n-greets like you'd find in the parks, there's a waterslide (the Aquaduck) that takes you through a transparent tube over the edge of the pool deck (quite a thrill) and there was also a pirate-themed dinner one of the nights.
There were really a lot of activities going on throughout the whole ship.
With the popularity of Marvel and Star Wars, you should expect to see those themes throughout the ship as well.
*Please note there is no casino, so if you're looking to gamble, you may be out of luck.... oh boy, did I just really say that?
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The musicians and shows were excellent. There were deck parties and the Broadway style shows feature a very talented cast. In addition to the pool deck screen, there is also the Buena Vista Theatre where you'll find first-run movies.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The service was on par with other higher-end cruise lines and there were quite a few instances in which my high expectations were blown away.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The Disney Fantasy is beautiful to behold. It's design and colors separate this ship from other ships in any other cruise line. The blue and white hull and the art deco feel of the whole ship gives me the feeling that I'm getting my money's worth (as these Disney cruises are expensive).
It can't really be put into words how gorgeous the ship really is, so I'll let the pictures do the talking.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
The cabin was clean, spacious and tastefully decorated. One of the best cabins I've ever stayed in.
Ship tip
Take lots of photos, enjoy in the onboard activities, Enjoy your cruise!
Castaway Cay is very cool. Disney put a huge amount of effort to turn this once cocaine drop-off airstrip into a prime tourist destination. It really shows. Again, the attention to detail, as with most things Disney, is exquisite. There's a huge amount of activities to take part in, or, if you please, get a floating lounger and relax!
We went on our first Disney Cruise with my wife and kids last January (Disney Magic w/Marvel Day at Sea). The vacation was so incredible that my wife and I cancelled our Princess Cruise we planned for December 2018 for just the 2 of us and booked Disney Cruise for December aboard the Disney Fantasy. We feel a little guilty going Disney w/o our kids but looking forward to enjoying the ship just the two of us!
