Review summary

Just finished the Japanese tour on Diamond Princess. Embarked at Keelung, Taipei and wished we had the option of embarking at Tokyo; at least there were disembarkation excursions in Tokyo to the airport whereas we couldn't have anything in Taipei. Princess even cancelled the city excursions in Tokyo because they were apparently 'unsubscribed' ... not happy at all as we were not informed that British, US and Australian citizens were a minority on this cruise! The Horizon is best described as a cafe ... what decent restaurant has plastic cups, mugs and plates? We were informed by regular Princess cruisers that this is the case on all Princess ships; this is sub-standard and very disappointing. The service was excellent however, and could not fault the staff. This was our first and last cruise with Princess.

I don't think Horizon Court ever pretends it is more than a buffet and we should expect buffet food not restaurant food. I think you will find that most all cruise ships have plastic dinnerware/cups in their buffets. I know Carnival, NCL, Royal Caribbean, MSC & Princess all have plastic. A lot of this is due to food from buffets being taken to outside & pool areas. I am sure there is a cost consideration as well. I had not ever seen it as an issue - after all it is a "buffet".
