Review summary

We had a wonderful relaxing get away and hated coming back to the snow

Embarkation

5 out of 5
This was the best embarkation to date (I have completed 14 cruises with Princess) they had us in the terminal by 11:00 am and then on ship in less than 45 minutes. Our room was ready when we boarded. Very quick

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We chose the 5:15 traditional seating for two. Somewhere there was a glitch and that wasn't communicated properly and we were at a table for 8. We informed the head waiter and the next night we had a table for 2--problem solved. We do tables for 2, because we like to eat right away and get out of the dining room to make the early show. The food was excellent and the ships are becoming more and more Gluten Free friendly. I have to eat GF because I have celiac's--it is not a choice. This trip there were more cakes--not just soft puddings and custards and mousse. The chef can make just about any entree or soup gf. Way to keep improving Princess! We also celebrated our anniversary at the Crown Grill. The food there is wonderful. I did not like the fact that they would not let me take my left overs back to the room in a doggie bag. I complained about that in the Princess review we get the day we leave ship.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
I always work out at the gym--4'11" and if you want to eat and not have trouble fitting thru the doors at the end of the cruise it is a must. The gym's equipment was all new and it was clean. I played the yes/no gameshow and almost won--they got me at 22 seconds left, I became too comfortable . the activities are fun and you can participate or not, your choice. I LOVE the Ruby, Emerald and CROWN class of ship because they are larger and still have the promenade deck. You can fully walk around the ship the larger classes of ships that can't be done.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The shows are all fabulous, but since we are frequent cruisers, we have seen most of them. It had been a year since our last one--we did a self guided Harry Potter Tour of the UK this summer--and we thought that there would be new shows. There weren't. I have a sisters' cruise thru the Panama Canal in January, so I hope there is new material for that longer voyage

Children's Programs

We did not take any of the grandkids with us this trip

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All of the ship's personnel went above and beyond to help and see to your needs. I did not encounter one cross person.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The CROWN, RUBY, and EMERALD are my favorite class of ships. I stated above about the promenade deck, the size is perfect

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin was great it is a mini suite--not considered a suite. you get a pull out couch in there and they are only a few more dollars than the most expensive balcony cabin. Well worth the upgrade. the cabin was very clean, my socks never got dirty

Ship tip

Always take the steps and book a cabin in the middle floors. That way you work off more calories and can indulge in more of what you like to eat. By doing this, I never gain weight on cruises.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
There was a glitch here. NOT the ship's fault. They were ready to go, but the land side of the port was not ready. Some poor young men ahead of us in the walk off line had booked a flight home for 8:45 a.m., figuring that they would walk off at 7:00. Don't know if they made it home or not, because they definitely did not make their flight. We were an hour late disembarking. You should never book a flight before 11:30 a.m.

69 more days and my family and I will be on this ship. We usually cruise royal but we are trying princess this time. I see many reviews stating this ship is old and tired.....hope they r wrong.
