Review summary

There is smoking allowed in pretty much every public area of the ship (bleh!). I am still recovering from the after effects of a respiratory infections as a result. We tried to go on deck as much as possible but there was always someone smoking near us. The ports themselves are pretty decent - I don't recommend any excursions as you will be rushed through everything, you won't be able to get out and take pictures of everything. You can easily wait till you port and there will be people trying to give you flyers of the same thing the boat is doing for a fraction of the cost.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
You can tell Costa is cutting back their costs in this area. None of the food was any better than a cheap cafe on land.

Entertainment

1 out of 5
The cruise ship and the crew itself aren't any different or better from other cruise lines. There is a slide that was only open on 2 of the 7 days. The entertainment was ok\, only two shows were worth going to - the others were just terrible (loud music\, bad singers/dancers\, and terrible bar service). There were plenty of times that we decided to read rather than take part in the \"festivities\"

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
You were forced to walk through smoking areas to get to certain areas of the ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
There was plenty of room to move around in this cabin - we were in the lower deck strategically near an exit due to Costa's recent press.

Pros: Getting OFF the ship

Cons: Smoke everywhere

Recommends Costa Serena? No.
