1st cruise trip with kid by newcruiser20172

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Caribbean - Western

a New ship but not that big. with everything but we feel like it's a paradise for elders, not for us.

Love dinner+services and night shows.

the only thing we feel bad is the disembarkation, it took so long to allow us to get off. (said to be 7am, but atually not) everybody wait with big luggages standing in the lobby.  a bit crowded.

my personal opinion by ipingyu

Food could be improved and dinner menu should be corrected.

Custom relation department, Naomi's help, should be glorification.

Fun and Relaing Vacation by Cruiser31693690

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The food was excellent, plentiful, and varied.

The bar drinks were excellent too although service was slow at times.  The bars could have each used a dedicated bar back which is a person who doesn't bartend but replenishes ice, mixers, glasses, etc...

The shore excursions were a lot of fun and the shore excursion desk staff were so polite and friendly.  Leaving the ship for the excursions was well organized.

I had a pedicure/manicure on the second day at sea the day before returning to Fort Lauderdale.  Usually the polish doesn't last but about 5 days on my fingernails before it starts chipping or wearing off but my nails still look like I had them done yesterday a week later.

I will definitely go on another cruise again in the future.

Perfection! by katiecobbelliot

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Our every need was met on our cruise.  We had a Skye Suite on deck 12 and we enjoyed the very private balcony a lot.  Michael's Club and all the suite perks were well worth the extra expense.  The ports were fun and we always felt safe.  The food was wonderful and drinks were plentiful.  There are wonderful people on this ship.  We aren't into the pool deck scene and that seemed a little crowded at times - but we headed to the solarium and Persian Gardens.  The entertainment was great and we could always find a quiet spot to relax.  Best vacation ever!  We usually do more active vacations and were apprehensive about cruising but it was amazing.

This was my first ever cruise. I really liked our personal room attendant, David.  Je took care of everything we asked for. Everyone was great.  I highly recommend this cruise and I will definitely take this line again.  Hopefully soon.

We  had a great time on this cruise . THE FOUR STOPS WERE EXCELLENT. We spent a lot of time on the beach.  THE FOOD WAS VERY GOOD ANF GENEROUS,  The entertainment including the four house productions were excellent. Our waiters and bus staff were friendly and professional, and bent over backward to meet our needs. WE had a very good time

Another fantastic experience with Celebrity by djrital1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was the first of two back-to-back cruises we took; Eastern followed by Western Carib.  The seas were rough from a storm front on the first day coming out of FLL.  The Captain wisely skipped our first port of call, the private island.  Obviously, we were all disappointed at not being able to visit there.  But it was the correct decision.  Tenders to the island would not have been safe and the island would have not been any fun in that wind and surf.  In stead we had a leisurely and smooth cruise to our next stop. Good call, safety first.  The rest of the time, Celebrity did it's normal amazing job.

The food was great... the shows were good... the ship is great and the service excellent.. the one problem that I had was the wifi service was much too expensive. Other shops charge much less money. Why?

Excellent all around cruise by barbmanfra

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

My favorite part was the Sonny Liston tour in St Thomas.  He had us laughing and singing all the way.  It was extreme fun travelling up the mountain.

My husband enjoyed the entertainment especially the two comics Ralph Harris and Bobby Printz.  The Four tenors and the Fly Boys were great.

Very enjoyable cruise by gsandjr

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We have sailed the Celebrity Silhouette before...really like the ship...and this sailing did not disappoint.  The food, entertainment, bars, and service are excellent.  Would definitely sail her again.

Negative would be the ports of call. At our age we're not too adventurous anymore, so Caribbean ports basically involve touristy shopping.  That gets old.  We had two tours.  One booked through Celebrity was good.  One booked through was awful!! Directions to locate the tour were lousy...we almost missed it. Driver was surly.  Loaded us into a van where the air conditioner was not working and he continued to deny it. His driving was scary, to say the least.

Average. by mjm1971

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Pros: +  Beautiful ship.  Probably the most beautiful ship of the 10 cruises we have enjoyed. +  Impressive on board art collection. + The food quality was above average in most areas.  Even the buffet was great.  Nothing like the tired, cold assortments on the Royal Caribbean buffets.  We did not go to any off the pay restaurants. +  Extremely clean vessel. Probably the most clean we have seen in 10 cruises. +  Almost no kids on board.   + Nice (yet very small) night club “Quasar”. No one ever used.  See “age range” below.  Maybe they should turn this into another pay restaurant. Lol! Pro and Con: +/-  Sunset bar and lawn area out back were great spots to sneak away from the crowds at night.  I do not think many passengers were aware, due the aft-ship, top deck location.  The service and views were    amazing.  Very peaceful hideaway.  This represents 1/2 of the the ship’s top level surface area.  Impossible to imagine the cruise line makes any money here.  Expect this to be replaced next time Silhouette goes back to dry dock.  I list this as a pro and con.  Pro, because of the lack of crowds and beautiful night time stargazing area.  Great bar service too.  Con due to the “pay more” exclusivity factor.  Two pay restaurants here, the Lawn Club Grill at $50 extra per person per meal, and the Porch grill at $35 extra per person per meal.  Eight (8) “private” alcoves you can rent for $249 per person per day on sea days.  No access to a pool if you want to cool off.  Strange feature. Cons: - The service on Celebrity has noticeably slipped since my 2012 sailing on Celebrity Constellation.  Not enough bar service staff or dining room staff.  These poor people seemed very overworked. -Age range on this ship is older than we expected (60’s for average).  Hard for us to make social connections with older passengers sometimes.  However, we did meet some active seniors from Canada that were a hoot! -Lack of activities during sea days.  Everything offered throughout the ship on sea days were make up seminars, jewelry shopping tips and other things which seemed aimed at selling us something rather than providing fun.  No afternoon entertainment to break up lounging by the pool on sea days.  I guess we are spoiled by Royal Caribbean. -Ship shows were absolutely terrible.  UNBEARABLE.  The imported entertainment groups were the best. -The main dining room was complete and total chaos on most lunch and dinner seatings.  Some days we received water at the table, some days we had to get up and get it ourselves.  I walked out on dinner on the last night and over to the bar to provide a pre-dinner cocktail for me and my partner.  Our main waiter was wonderful, tried to call the cocktail waiter three times and no response.   -Two (2) restaurants for suite guests only.  Seven (7) additional pay restaurants on board.  $50 per person on top of what you already paid for the cruise.  It looks like Celebrity is trying to send a message to future cruisers (if you want the “ultimate” experience in service and quality, take your cruise fare and double it).  This is our 10th cruise, and on the newer, larger ships (Celebrity Solstice Class or RCL Oasis class) this is definitely the  future trend. -Steam room is co-ed (no separation) and the spa layout is extremely weird!  You pay $100 for the week to use the co-ed steam room, so men and women are in there together in robes.  When you leave the men’s locker room, you have to walk up to the front desk, in front of all the other “dressed” customers who are making appointments or checking in.  Then you stand there, in your robe, in front of everyone, until the front desk person can get a break to let you in to the steam area with their access card.  Lol!  Most bizarre thing I’ve ever seen on a newer luxury cruise ship.  Some of the women patrons felt very uncomfortable. -My partner had a terrible spa/accupuncture experience.  The “Doctor” did not tell him what to expect for the treatment.  He just left my partner in a room alone for 45 minutes with needles in his elbow which were hooked up to some electrical stimulus machine.  My partner was furious.  Even the spa director agreed the “doctor” handled this terribly and refunded the treatment fee. Overall rating (A, B, C, D, F):  C. Overall rating:  75% out of 100%. Cruise again on this ship:  No. Cruise again on Celebrity:  Not sure.

disappointing- Celebrity has become just anothemainstream cruise line-it has lost it cache by rudyasanchez

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Ship is well maintained, clean and in fairly good condition. Overall quieter, more relaxing  atmosphere than on RCL or Princess. Older more mature crowd with very few children or young couples onboard.

Food has deteriorated and is no longer in the same league that one was used to on celebrity. Even lobster tails are smaller than ever, steaks tend to be a bit tough and service is a bit inconsistent.. Even food in specialty restaurants such as Tuscany grill is not what it used to be,, Standards have changed downwards in Celebrities quest for more profits.. Food whether breakfast or lunches at anywhere but the buffet end very early and are only one and a half hours so most people miss them and are forced to eat the cheaper even less quality buffet.

While they push hard to empty ship by 1030am all that does is cause long lines once you are off- they quickly wash their hands of you.

RCL which owns celebrity needs to spend a little more per passenger and restore celebrity to the once great brand it was..

Loved it! by marciamcm

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We loved the beautiful ship, the wonderful food, our room.  Especially loved Amor, our server for most of our meals.  She was attentive, informative, funny, fun.

The only thing my husband didn't like was waiting for elevators.  The galley tour was fun but not very informative because we couldn't understand our guide.  The shows were wonderful--our favorite was the juggler followed closely by the Frankie Valli group. One thing we didn't understand was when we booked, we were told we were in the "concierge" group.  We didn't really understand the advantage but when it came time to disembark, we went to the place the concierge group were directed to and we were told we weren't in that group.  Just confusing.

Beautiful well kept ship! by lkhoury

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The ship is very well kept. I wasn't too impressed with food in the main dining room. It seems they are trying to make you pay extra for the specialty restaurants onboard which they have quite a few. Overall a very enjoyable cruise and nice sized rooms.😊

Review of Cruise by gwabramson

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was our second cruise on this ship.  There were no surprises.  All aspects of food service were excellent.  The kosher menu was fine but the quality of the packages were disappointing.  Suggest getting a different kosher caterer.

Some suggestions about entertainment.  The movie should have an earlier showing such as 9 PM.  The late night comedian was in a space far too small to accommodate everyone.

One suggestion about the shops:  There should be a souvenir shop with reasonable prices so that one could arrive home with little gifts for family and friends.
