Review summary

Our first Celebrity cruise, it won’t be our last. This was a taster for us and we really enjoyed it. Great ship, fantastic staff and the premium all inclusive was a no brainier for us. Brugge and Amsterdam are great ports time and time again.

Embarkation

Could not have been smoother. Did most of it on line and from arriving to on board took less than 15 minutes. (City terminal, Southampton).

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Upgraded to premium beverage which took us up to $18 per drink which covered pretty much everything. Food in buffet is excellent with good choice but - my wife is dairy intolerant. There was nothing labelled as dairy free. Her go to vegan options weren’t there. In the MDR and specialty restaurants she was well catered for with staff here knowledgeable and happy to help.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Plenty to do especially in the evening. Cruise director Eddy was everywhere and very entertaining. This is the first time a cruise director has been waiting on land on disembarkation day wishing departing passengers a safe journey. Can’t imagine when he manages to get any time off. Pools are excellent including the solarium. Big enough to have a swim and not just a splash. Good gym.

Entertainment

Matthew Mcgurk proved to be a top notch magician in the theatre. The ships cast of dancers and arielists were fantastic. Not usually my thing but they were so good and worthy of the standing ovation that they received. Less said about the comedian on the first night the better. Never walked out on a show before but after ten minutes we were in danger of being the only people in the theatre. He bombed. Lots of music around the ship and on deck.

Service and Staff

Wow. These guys work hard. Arya and Mykola in the ‘world class’ bar made us smile every evening. Lewis our cabin steward was first rate. Eddy the cruise director worth another mention. Does this guy ever sleep? The man is a dynamo! Some of the bars were a little under staffed but this appears to be industry wide. Something that helped this was that Celebrity bring out ‘pop up’ bars. Mobile drinks units that help ease the shortage. On the whole all staff couldn’t do enough and we’re always smiling.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
A nicely laid out ship. Plenty of venues. Constantly cleaned. The promenade is not wrap around which would like and the lifeboats render most of what promenade unusable fir seating. For us, too many smoking areas but I guess if you smoke this would be a good thing.

Cabin / Stateroom

Really clean and spacious. Bow thrusters make themselves known when docking or departing. On this occasion departing Amsterdam at 02:30hrs made for an early wake-up call. Overall very comfortable and the early morning departure aside we rested well at night.

Ship tip

Book dining in the MDR on your app day one for day two if you want a popular time.
