Ship experiences

Food and Dining

Holy cow, where do I even start? We got a great deal on dining package, so we only had 3 meals in the main dining room, but the ones we had were fabulous. Our favorites were probably the Lawn Club Grill (where you grill your own food-so fun!) and Qsine. Our son ordered room service a couple days (it was still free) and said it was good also.

Onboard Activities

We didn’t take advantage of many of the activities as we like to basically relax by the pools and do trivia. However, the Solarium was beautiful and we never had trouble finding a seat. We also loved sitting on the pool deck early in the morning.

Service was amazing.

Ship Quality

Some of the standout areas include the giant lawn where we could lay out and the unique furniture in the martini bar area. We also enjoyed the opportunity to dine outside (something we don’t get on Royal). Everywhere was clean. The couch/extra bed in our balcony was more than adequate for our 6’1” 19 year old and comfortable.

We ate at local restaurant “House of Mofongo.” And it was wonderful. We did not do an excursion, but walked to one of the forts. Fun fact: $5 buys you admission into both the fort and the castle. We stopped at the Starbucks to use wifi for 5 minutes (re-up on Candy Crush). Enjoyed the shopping and going to each store for our “free” items.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

This is our favorite port. We took a taxi to Maho but didn’t stay because it was super crowded due to the Allure docking there unexpectedly. We went back to Great Bay and did what we normally do: Grab 2 chairs, an umbrella, and 5 drinks for $25. My husband took our son to ThatYoda Guy (I’d already been) and I enjoyed the beach.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

This was our second time and our son’s first here. We took a cab to Cockleshell beach and enjoyed the unusual sand and delicious drinks. Our son paid for a massage on the beach and said that it was awesome.
