Formal nights as we once remember them no longer exist on most of the major, family-oriented cruise lines. Today, on a Celebrity seven night cruise you will have two “evening chic” nights. This translates into “dress to impress, glamorous and sophisticated in your own way”. On these evenings those passengers eating in the Main Dining Room may be seen wearing slacks with collared shirts, skirts with blouses, coat & tie, cocktail dresses, and even formal aware. Shorts and tee-shirts are frowned upon in the MDR on these two nights and are best worn in the buffet area.

There really is not a formal dress attire night. I was on the Equinox this past week and nice attire is fine. There are a few people that dress up. Sometimes beautiful jewelry is worn too. But any elegant simple wear is perfect.
