Review summary

After a two-year hiatus, we were itching to get back on a cruise ship and it finally happened. A few more hoops to jump through getting on board, but once on board the experience was fairly normal when compared to pre-CCP Flu days. I do wish the crew would lose the masks; completely unnecessary and a bad look. The ports of call are still a bit rough. Masks, small selection of excursions, lots of things closed down – it may take some time for these places to recover. Edge did not disappoint: Outstanding food and service. Celebrity has a good product, I just hope they don't ruin it with too much Wokeness. They are trying to.

Embarkation

Nice, speedy. Only two complaints: The old priority system is gone now, and there are 3 gatekeepers checking documents before you get to the person that really needs them.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Excellent food. My only less-than-perfect observation was that the Mexican refried beans are way too watery / liquidy. But this is a common Celebrity error.

Onboard Activities

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Guest entertainers and musicians were great. The production stage shows are not my cup of tea. A bit too "artsy" and not enough music that everyone knows. I also don't go for the forced integration of acrobats and aerial performers into every production show. It doesn't really contribute, I'm not a fan.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The entire complement was friendly and the service outstanding.

Ship Quality

Love the Edge. A lot of brilliant redesigns when compared to Solstice class.

Bahamas was a bust for us too. Only allowed off ship if doing an excursion thru ship and all were beach things. We prefer to do things in port that we can't do at home.

Thanks for the review. Sorry about the ports.

Glad you enjoyed your cruise. Although vaccinated, the crew have to wear masks because they live on a ship in close quarters, and they come into contact with a variety of people. This should in no way bother you.
