We highly recommend this 11 day cruise itinerary. This was one of our top cruises.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
We didn’t have any issues with embarkation, maybe because we were led to the concierge class check in line. I heard others say it was chaotic and disorganized.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
The food was very good, however, being on Celebrity pre- pandemic, we felt the food was of better quality in past cruises. Hence the three stars.
La Petit Quisine restaurant was cute, enjoyable and delicious. I would reckon it. Tuscan Grill was ok. My filet was good but our friend ordered veal and it was tough. Frankly we will not go to another steak specialty restaurant no matter what ship we go on. It’s not worth it.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
My husband went to the fitness center and said it was good. We went to the solarium everyday which was nice, however the lounge chairs are very uncomfortable.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
We thought the entertainment was fantastic. I overheard some passengers say it was “okay” so I guess it’s subjective. My husband and I are very savvy when it comes to being in an audience to watch a show, so I don’t believe that I am being overly generous in my rating.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
Our room steward was excellent. Our dining room waiter was slow and you could not understand what he was saying. With the late dining time we were assigned and could not change and the slowness in the dining room, my husband and I ate in the Oceanview Cafe most nights. I understand that English is not the primary language for some of the staff, but if they are going to interact with guests, they need to learn to articulate better. This waiter has been with Celebrity for 11 years, so I can’t give him a pass on communication skills.
Guest relations were very pleasant and helpful.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
The ship lay out was great and clean. Furniture needs to be replaced.
Cabin / Stateroom
1 out of 5
The cabin comfort was good, the size was ok and very clean. Being an older ship, they only had two electrical outlets and no usb charging stations. We both have cpaps so we needed two extension cords to use and both extended over the floor to the outlets. Needed to be very careful getting up at night.
Most important thing to know about the 12th deck. It is right below the pool deck and Oceanview Cafe. Our cabin aft was under the Oceanview and we heard chair and table scraping most of the night until 2am. I imagine the crew were cleaning floors. During the day if we were in the cabin, we heard the scraping and food trolley carts rolling around. We relax in the afternoons with watching a movie or take naps, it was all very annoying. Never ever get a cabin below the public decks and for that matter above nightclubs. We had the cabin assigned and it never occurred to me to look at the location. With a guarantee, chances are the same thing would have happened.
We paid a lot of money for the cruise, which was worth it but we were subjected to scraping noises in our cabin.
Ship tip
As mentioned about location of your cabin, make sure you are not subjected to noise. If you are lucky enough to have Mike, the Cruise Director, you are very lucky. He is very personable, funny, talented and makes himself visible around the ship. His team is excellent.
Boston is s always great to visit. Traffic was horrendous getting to the terminal. For a 10 minute taxi ride, it took 45 minutes. We didn’t have any issues embarking, but others complained about how disorganized it was. Plan accordingly.
Love, love, love this stop. We took a walking tour through Cruises Only partner and it was extremely informative. The city is so quaint. Be warned, lots of steep hills and unstable terrain. Wear sneakers, have walking canes if you use them and take it slow.
