Review summary

This was our first cruise on Celebrity. Because of they’re reputation I was expecting more. The food was mediocre. The service was good but not great. Compared to other cruises and even to their newer ships this cruise fell below our expectations.

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
With all the positive reviews of the food on Celebrity and seeing posts on the newer ships I was expecting much more with regards to the food. It was hit or miss in the main dining room. There were more choices at the buffet. If you got there early everything was fresh but if you came later not so much. Especially the desserts at Cafe Bacio in the evening. They were quite stale.

Onboard Activities

The pools were chilly. I thought they’d be heated as it’s December. That’s probably why they were never crowded. It would of been nice to have the water station by the pool open but it was not so had to go up a level to the Mast grill. The Persian Garden Spa was nice but very surprised on how little there was in actual amenities. Tiled hot seats, a wet sauna and aromatherapy room with hot and cold showers all co-ed. And a dry sauna in the locker area. If I were in Aquaclass on the Eclipse I would of been extremely disappointed. They had a lot of spa options but most very expensive. Did have a pedicure and when they asked which polish I wanted they never told me there was a 24.00 up charge on top of the 89.00 pedicure for gel polish. So I was very surprised at checkout.

Entertainment

The shows were nice but nothing special. The was only one thing happening after 11pm and that was with a DJ in the Observation Lounge. It would of been nice to have another music option mid ship like a singer or the strings duo.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Everyone was friendly but the service just wasn’t the same as other cruises we’ve been on. We had to search for our room steward on the first day. We were in Conceirge class and it comes with a few perks. We didn’t get the afternoon tidbits on two or our six days. We had to ask several times for our complimentary bottle of wine. I went to the Concierge to let them know my husband was celebrating his birthday aboard. They said they’d ask the steward to decorate the room. He did not. He didn’t acknowledge his birthday either. A bartender the next day did which was quite surprising and room service gave him a piece of birthday cake which was nice but I had put it on our room service menu so they knew it was his birthday. They were also supposed to sing happy birthday at dinner in the dining room. Unfortunately we didn’t eat there that night due to the rocking and rolling of the ship but I thought the next night they would but they didn’t.

Ship Quality

This ship rocked and rolled so much on Sea days. We have never experienced that to this extent on our other cruises. It was bad enough to interrupt plans for dinner and fun stuff.

Cabin / Stateroom

The cabin was clean if a bit dated. Could use a bit more storage especially drawers. Bed was comfortable. They washed the balcony and it was still wet the next day so lost usage of it for that time.

Ship tip

It’s nice but nothing special. If we take another cruise on Celebrity it would be on a newer ship with more to do.

Disembarkation

Conceirge is supposed to have priority Disembarkation but we were in luggage group 27 of 34. That’s not very priority.
