Overall a very good experience. This was our first time on Celebrity and we were quite happy. We received some very good discounts for being over 55 (nearly 1000.00 per person). Compared to some of the other options I looked at for less days, this was a good deal.
The ship was beautiful and well kept. Not many children on board and those that were well behaved, which made in very nice.
I would definitely consider sailing with Celebrity again.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
No problems. We waited until later in the day as we did some sightseeing of Oahu before embarking.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Food in the main dining room was excellent. We also dined in the Blu restaurant on several occasions, which was also excellent. I am not a foodie and pretty much stick to basic fair. The food in the Ocean View Café was good for the most part. Some days better that others. Deserts were consistently below average in my opinion. Deserts in the MDR and Blu were much better.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
We did use the spa area quite a bit, as we booked and Aqua Class stateroom. Only used the pool area on day. After leaving the last port of call, the temperature was a little chilly for pool side activities.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
My wife and I attended most of the evening shows. For us, the production show were ok. Not really our taste. The guest performers were very good. The orchestra in the theater were good, as were the musicians in the main lobby and elsewhere on the ship.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Our room steward, Mani, was outstanding. He made sure that our every need was met. When we needed something, he handled it promptly. The cabin was kept spotless.
We dined in the Ocean View Café for the most part. But Joey C. in the MDR and Gamma in the Blu restaurant provided excellent service.
Every staff member on the ship was friendly and attentive, always smiling.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The ship was beautiful. A lot of areas to just sit back and relax, which was important with so many sea days. The common areas were spotless.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Cabin was a nice size. Could have used a little more storage space. Well laid out. Great view from the balcony. Bathroom was great. Lots of room for a stateroom bathroom. Shower was especially nice with the spa shower.
Great view from the balcony. Sometimes a bit noisy as we were just below the walking track on deck 12. But the overhang provided a bit of shelter from the sun and rain had we had any.
We arrived a day early and stayed at Waikiki Beach. Did not do much in Honolulu, but drove to the Polynessian Cente and to the North Shore. Some breathtaking scenery along the way. Wish we had come in one day earlier to see some of the other sights
Rented a car and went to the Kona Joe Coffee Company for a tour and also went to Pu'uhonua O Honauna National Park. Great drive and beatiful scenery as well.
We did the Atlantis submarine excurshion and walked around the shops downtown. Wanted to rent a car, but with the rental companies closing at 4 was really not worth the cost. Would have like to see more of the island.
We did the waterfall, cave and black sand cove excurshion. The tour was excellent, but the vehicle was a little cramped. Tour guide Andrea was excellent and knowledgeable.
Did not spend any time here. Wish we had planned for a day here, but drove to Calgary instead. A beautiful but very long drive, about 2 1/2 hour longer than Google maps states.
To get the additional or best discounts, we also repeatedly remind the cruise line agents or travel agents to check for our discounts prior to payment in full. Keep in mind though that the discounts change over time and not all discounts are additive. So, for example, depending on when you booked your cruise or when your itinerary starts, a special sale may give a higher discount than the 55+ discount.
How did you get your discount for over 55? I've booked celebrity for next year when I'll be 55 but when booking she didn't ask my age. Just wondering if I could get the discount too! Thanks.
