Review summary

Near the expected time of departure an announcement was made that one propeller on the ship was not working and we would not travel to our destinations. Instead of islands off the coast of south America we went to the Bahamas, just a swim away from south Florida. Carnival announced that we could disembark and get a future cruise credit or stay on board and get a $400 credit on the room. Disembarking was impractical and the on board credit is not nearly the cost difference between cruising the Bahamas versus Aruba. What Carnival should have done was warn travelers of the potential change in plans before they ever left their home cities to come to the port. Carnival knew the ship couldn't sail and said nothing.

Embarkation

We were brought aboard a ship that was not functioning as it should. They should have never brought us on board.

I heard it wasn't great. I'm so sorry that happened. Carnival has known for years these ships have issues and keep putting a bandaid on them. Also heard you were in Freeport until like 3am so casino and bars were closed.

You were away from home on a beautiful ship. Vista offers plenty of things to do. Your negative attitude is probably what ruined your vacation.

Plenty options were offered by Carnival... You chose to stay onboard and chose to have a bad time.... While disappointed i would have had a blast... Don't be so negative when things happen as it doesn't help your vacation

Sorry you were disappointed.

Considering the change to the Bahamas and the mechanical issues, i would have left the ship. Of course, I drive the 15 hours to get there so it is easy for me to leave. If I had flights and other things to consider like you, that would make the decision way more complicated.

Oops sorry thanks

I wouldn't have been happy to hear Bahamas over Aruba either. The proper thing to do would've been to inform you before traveling to port. It's not easy trying to get right back off the ship, try to get a flight or hotel room to maybe fly home the next day. Carnival did the math and didn't want to lose money. They dropped the ball again. "The Fun Ship"

Disappointing to have the itinerary changed but surely if you opted to stay on the cruise you at least try to make the most of it.

It’s hard to imagine not one thing went okay. If you opted to stay on board, you should have made the best of it. I understand the disappointment and frustration, but they did give options. Perhaps the problem wasn’t discovered until they completed safety checks. I hope you have a better experience in the future.
