This Cruise line needs to work on a lot of things.
Embarkation

When we arrived to the port to get on the cruise, the person handling our bags asked us for a tip and when we did not have the amount of money he wanted he cussed at us and said that we were ridiculous. It was not a friendly way to get on the cruise ship by any means. It was actually quite upsetting that carnival has workers that behave like that.

Food and Dining

The first day and night we were on the cruise we went to the assigned dining room that was on our cruise ship card because we paid for the package that included that specific dining room. When we went to check in with the hostess she told us that our package was for the buffet and we were shooed away. We ate in the buffet the first night and it was not good at all. The food was cold and there were very few options for eating at 6 o clock. When we went to the buffet for breakfast the next day one of the people we were with got a bowl of cereal. She went to pour the milk in her cereal and the milk was curdled and nothing came out of the carton but chunks. We informed the waitress about it and all she said was "I'm sure they aren't all like that so go get a different one."
The next night we went back to the dining room even if we had to pay for the food, we just wanted a good meal. Our waiter came over and we explained to him what happened and he was extremely disappointed with the hostess and said he would get it taken care of. He also said that he was sorry because the dining area is what we had already paid for so we should have eaten there the entire time. He even admitted that the buffet was not good. Our server in the dining room was amazing and we requested him again for our final night.
Onboard Activities

The gym was very nice. The putt putt section could have been better, but that was not a big deal. The pools were nice too, thought they could have been a little larger since there was so many people and children.
Entertainment

We never went to the stage shows but the music was kind of disappointing. The person singing in the main bar on the third floor sang the songs every night so it got to be a little old listening to that performer. Also the bands in the casino could have been more up beat. I have been on carnival before when the music on all ends was amazing.
Service and Staff

I thought the customer service could have been a large amount better. I understand that the people working on the cruise are foreign but most of them could barely understand us or we could not understand them. The bartenders at almost every bar on the ship would look at us and not get our drink order. At every bar we waited about 30 minutes for a drink even if they were not busy. I asked several people for a list of exactly what I paid for so I could avoid the whole dining mix up and no one seemed to understand what I was asking for and if they did they said they could not do that. The directions of things such as the onboard safety training and exiting the ship were very unclear and when asked the ship personnel had an attitude. I also paid for two birthday packages and when I booked the cruise the lady I booked with said that on the first night the room would be decorated with balloons and other festive things for birthdays. We did not receive such things. On the last day we woke up and one of the ship personnel knocked on our door and gave us a small card for a free birthday picture from Carnival and spa service that expired the day before. I felt like we spent way too much money especially since we did not get things we paid for. The customer service on Carnival was by far the worst customer service I have ever received on any vacation.

When booking the room, the lady said that we would have more than enough room for five people and that it was very spacious. It definitely was not the case. It was very small and crowded.
Sounds like you should have done some research.. everyone is scheduled a dining time in the dining rooms.. early, late, or anytime dining. The buffet for dinner is optional if you don't feel like going to the dining room... only specialty restaurants are extra.. and require reservations.
Going on Carnival Victory Monday this will be our 6th Carnival Cruise. Never had an issue, never been disappointed, went to the right dining time, went to the right dining room. Not sure what you mean by the package for the dinner it's all included unless you're doing specialty dining.
It is my understanding that the porters are employed by the port and not the cruise lines, so don't let their being rude influence how you feel about the cruise line. I usually expect to tip 2 to 5 per bag both on embarkation and when I return, sometimes more if they were super niceš.
Sorry you had a bad experience. It seems like this may have been your first cruise and you did not know what to expect or did not do much research to know what to expect before you arrived. Tipping for baggage handlers at the port, airports and hotels is very common and expected, although the baggage handlers should not have been rude. As far as the issues in the dining room, there is no additional charge for the main dining room, only the specialty restaurants. You are assigned either main dining, late dining or anytime dining. It sounds like you may have shown up at either the wrong dining room or at the wrong time, and that is why you were turned away. As far as cabin size, Carnivalās cabins are actually larger on average than most other cruise lines for the similar category cabin. I would never recommend more than two adults stay in a cabin unless it is a suite. A quick search online would have given you the measurements and shown you several pictures of the different cabins so that you wouldāve known what to expect.
