Review summary

The cruise was okay. I don't think I will sail on Carnival in the future, though. I need a certain level of cleanliness which Carnival did not provide. I was very happy with the food and the inside of our cabin, though. And, the service was excellent.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food was very good, but there were such long lines for food, that it was discouraging. The main dining room was excellent. The service was great, the food was excellent and we were in a very easy and convenient location.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
I didn't really do onboard activities, but one of my sons had a ball.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our waiters in the dining room were amazing and my room attendant was very good.

Ship Quality

2 out of 5
The layout of the ship caused traffic jams in the food lines on Deck 9, I believe. Our stateroom was clean and I liked the layout, but the balcony was very dirty - the glass and the metal trim at the bottom, along with the flooring. There were many areas that look unclean and not well maintained, e.g., the cushions on the chairs in the Serenity Lounge, the deck chairs themselves were stained and dirty, there was much rust on the boat, windows and fixtures. I have sailed twice on Royal Caribbean, which is immaculate.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
I was not comfortable in my bed, I had a twin, but my two sons were comfortable. The size of the cabin was excellent, it was roomy enough for the three of us and was a good value, which is why I took the cruise. As mentioned above, the cabin was overall clean and well-maintained, but the balcony was not.

Ship tip

That it was okay, but not as clean and well-maintained as I would have liked.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

5 out of 5
We were in Miami for three nights before we left on the cruise and two when we returned. We loved our time in Miami.

Nassau, Bahamas

3 out of 5
We had a very bad experience on the jet ski at Atlantis, but it was our fault. Although, we did not get the full hour we paid for. I didn't not feel almost $300 was a good value for the beach at Atlantis. There was not enough time to truly get my money's worth.

Disembarkation

1 out of 5
Very long and slow and poorly planned. Never had a disembarkation like this one. At the end, I realized I could use Global Entry and that got us out earlier. But, no one said anything.

The Victory will be getting a complete overhaul in a couple months and will be renamed the Carnival Radiance, which is probably why they aren’t putting very much time or energy into maintenance. We’ve been on the Victory twice and never experienced anything that was not clean. I would give Carnival another chance, perhaps with one of their newer ships!
