Review summary

It was chaotic and stressful. Then the guy committed suicide and things became confusing on top of chaotic and stressful. This was our first cruise and our first vacation my husband and I have gone on since getting married 9 years ago. This was not a pleasant experience I would want to repeat.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
We didn't really have one as boarding was missed due to stolen passport.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Most of the food was excellent but when they missed...they really missed. Gluten free bread for the most part SUCKED!

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We didn't get to use them.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
We only got to experience a few things as we had to board on the evening of Cozumel. The show Vroom was good. However, not exactly family friendly. I was thankful our 8 yr old wasn't at it since the "cop" stripped to his undies and the ladies quite frequently were shaking everything in a stage costume I would call a bikini. Karaoke was fun until the employee let a family stop the rotation to sing as many gospel songs as they wanted. We left after 6ish. They weren't even using the karaoke equipment..they were just free styling some acapella. I'm good with some gospel. It was good. However, no one else was getting a turn unless you were in their family. We gave up waiting for our turn and left annoyed. The employee? She was encouraging the family to continue while everyone else just sat there wondering if they were going to get a turn...even the ones who had been waiting since before half the family had shown up. On our unexpected day at sea the comedians did an extra (unexpected) "family friendly" show. The man (I don't remember his name) was HORRIBLE. He kept verbally attacking a family and a young boy going on about how all children should be hit every day. The majority of his "show" was about hitting children and why they deserved it.

Children's Programs

Children didn't go with us.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Some were awesome...some were more confused than anything. For the most part the staff was great though.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Ship was very clean. Everywhere you turn someone was cleaning...and cleaning...and cleaning. The layout was confusing.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
I was pleasantly surprised with the size/comfort of the cabin. The bed wasn't all that great as it was two twin beds pushed together. By the end of the cruise it had started spreading apart and we were only in the room two nights.

Disembarkation

This is a bit hard to answer. We had exit first as we boarded at a foreign port. Not to mention the suicide and confusion from that.

what exactly was chaotic and stressful before the man overboard situation? maybe it can be taken as a lesson and you can avoid it next time and give cruising another try!

Geez, that's not good :( why did you find your cruise stressful? Just curious.

Sometimes first cruises can be chaotic when you are learning what to do. I am sorry your first experience was "man overboard" that adds a completely different element.
