Review summary

My entire family enjoyed the cruise. All adult members of our family have cruised at least 5 times and we enjoyed this cruise as we always do with our Carnival cruises. We were all disappointed with the changes to the menu in the main dining hall and with some of the changes to room service (charging a fee for overnight service after 10 PM). We were all EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED that Carnival didn't offer the Midnight Buffet on this cruise. We all hope that it returns. Without it, the only late night option (outside of Room Service, which now carries a fee overnight) was the Pizza stand, but since the pizzas are now all made to order (we love this) the line was extremely long (we hated this) and sometimes stretched around across the deck area and around near the buffet dining area.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
The embarkation process was the best I've ever experienced. I've cruised 6 other times and no other embarkation went this fast. I didn't complete any of the preregistration that's now available and I still breezed through quickly.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
I was highly disappointed with the ship's main dining room. The food selections that are included in your cruise fare are much more limited than I've experienced in the past. Higher quality food items that used to be standard fare in the main dining rooms (ex: lobster tail, NY Strip steak) are now considered premium items that require a $20 surcharge. I like that the room service menu has expanded with some hot food items that require a reasonable fee, however I was disappointed that any room service items now after 10 PM into overnight are now assessed a fee. I did love Guy Fieri's grill. The burgers there are some of the best I've ever had! I like the seafood stand as well, the prices there were fair.

Entertainment

DJs and music selections were good. The ship comedian was horribly unfunny.

Caribbean Main Lounge

Very good venue!

Children's Programs

My kids loved this program! It was a highlight of the cruise for them as they never wanted to leave. I loved the Night Owl's program.

Was debarkation as easy as embarkation?

Glad that overall your trip was good. I don't like the charge for room service after 10pm either. Hopefully that will change.

I have not seen midnight buffet in years. Too much waste, is the reason they stopped. They have late night snacks. But you really have to watch the funtimes to see it.

How many days was this cruise? I had heard they only do on 6 or more

Agreed! I cruised Carnival Victory last December and was super disappointed without the midnight themed buffet. Buffet Lines were extremely long and poor menu choices.
