This was my 5th cruise and it was tied for being a favorite. It was a first time cruise for the two people traveling with me and while they were hesitant they had a great time and said they would both like to cruise again.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Very good considering we got there several hours early. We were still allowed to begin the embarkation process, get on the ship for lunch, and just wait until the cabins were ready.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
The food was wonderful! We especially enjoyed the Sea Day Brunch as well as the late night pizza station.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
We enjoyed many things including the pools, hot tubs, water slide, mini golf, casino, gym, and spa.
The only thing that could be improved is the Military Meetups. We went to this because my fiance who was traveling with me was in the Army. We selected tea and THEN were asked for our sign and sail card because we needed to pay for them. It's not that they were expensive (less than $2) but if this was a time to honor those who served we really shouldn't have been hit with that surprise cost. Seemed trivial. Also, would have been nice if something was said to honor them or at least ask where/when they served. Instead we just sat down, drank tea, and ate dessert. Didn't even get to talk to anyone else.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
We enjoyed the Love and Marriage show, evening shows, trivia, and a comedy show. All were very entertaining and great quality.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Our waiters were quite entertaining, attentive, and helpful, especially Arielle (sp?) and Mark when we had brunch. Our room stewardess was wonderful as well.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Everything was clean and well maintained. By the last day we STILL hadn't figured out how to get to the Pacific Restaurant without going up and down several flights of stairs, but the signs did help.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Very nice, even the top bunk was large and we didn't feel cramped in the cabin with 3 adults.
Ship tip
Follow the signs if you need to get to the Pacific Restaurant. It is still a bit frustrating but not bad.
We had an absolutely wonderful time on the dolphin encounter at Balmoral Island!!!! It stormed for a few hours but we stayed under roof at the bar, played games, and when the rain stopped we still got a full half hour with the dolphins, learning about them, petting them, getting many photos taken... it was just a blast! We then had 2 hours to spend at the beach. We didn't feel rushed and had a wonderful day despite the rain.
Oh my goodness, this place is the best!!!! We did the horseback riding excursion first thing in the morning and then spent the rest of the day at the beach. I did a similar excursion last month and the horses were in poor shape and mistreated. These horses were healthy, happy, and weren't forced to just follow each other head to tail. We were actually directed NOT to do this because the horses don't like having another horse right behind them. The trail ride was fun, lots of chances to trot in order to catch up. And the ocean part was beyond what I had imagined! The horses were eager to get into the water and run. I have trained and showed horses all my life so it takes a lot to wow me when it comes to horseback riding but this did! We all had so much fun and were allowed to take our own pictures so didn't feel pressured to purchase them.
Excellent report! While I disagreed (minor) on the food, particularly the pizza, you managed to cram a lifetime of fun in four days. Check out my experience aboard Victory and see how yours compared.
