Review summary

Never again, will I reserve a cruise through Carnival again. This was my first cruise and my last cruise through them. I was switched and transferred ships by Carnival cruise lines and was never even supposed to be on the Victory ship in the first place. So, that was the first problem. The second was that I ordered a T-shirt online to b delivered to my room when I got there in my room. When I got there..no T-shirt. They didn't even bother to give me a note in my room upon arrival to notify me a reason to as why it wasn't delivered. 2 days had gone by, finally I had to call down to room service to find out where it was. They, and only then, did they inform me that they were all out of t-shirts and there were none onboard for sale. (THAT'S PROBABLY BECAUSE I WAS STUCK ON THAT PARTICULAR SHIP!) The pictures on the website did not reflect what the ship looked like at all! Nor did it offer the same activities that the pictures on the website resembled. IT was Horrible! I had to ASK for my money back. They didn't offer it. They were probably hoping that I would forget, so that they could keep the money. Pathetic! It was a lower class boat with lower class ppl on board. I was on the Victory. It needs a serious face lift. Paint was chipping off the walls by the elevator. The floors were old and worn out. The activities sucked. The entertainment was a joke. The food was "Just Ok." Nothing to brag about there. However, the room service food was good. Even though the napkins were permanently soiled from previous guests with lipstick stains and holes in them. Why the hell they just didn't throw them away and replenish them is beyond me. I put up with harassment from some guests. I felt like I was always being hustled for more money onboard. The cruise director was constantly promoting shopping activities over loud speaker that would put more money in their pockets. It was shameful and embarrassing to listen to it. I would not recommend this ship or cruise line to anyone.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Just ok. But, the room service rueben sandwich was great.

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
What a joke! Horrible! Really? Best hairy chest competition? U should b ashamed of yourselves. It was disgusting.

Entertainment

1 out of 5
U had no entertainment as far as I am concerned.

Children's Programs

3 out of 5
Did not participate in, so I cannot say.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Room service staff that fixed the beds and towels were professional.

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
Horrible! Ugly ship!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Clean and appeared to have been remodeled..the floor... I mean. The rooms on deck 2 were nice and well lite. The bathrooms could use a facelift however. Perhaps, a different color then blue?

Ship tip

Don't do it. Save your money for a different ship. Floor 2 for cabins is nice, Floor 9 is not.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

3 out of 5

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

5 out of 5
Nice. Relaxing. Beautiful beach with lots of sunchairs, music and activities. Food was just ok. No big deal.

Nassau, Bahamas

5 out of 5
Atlantis was a great place to visit. But, u need more than just 2 - 3 hours to really enjoy it.

That's generous! I'm still trying to get past how they were unaware the ship had been changed....

I think the T Shirt has more to do with the rant than the change in ship. As long as I have a cabin equal to what i reserved or better, the T Shirt will be credited or they will need to ship to my home address.

Sorry you had ships changed on you.   It was notified by Carnival of the change of ships.   There were even some post here of ship being changed.  The Victory is an older ship that has not had all of the 2.0 upgrades.

I have been on the Victory and had a great cruise but I did not spend all of my vacation looking for things to complain about.   I found the Victory to be very clean and had great staff for cabin, MDR, Bar and Lido.  Entertainment was good in the show room or the comedy club.  I did not look down on other passengers and call them low class.

Cruising is not for everybody,  maybe you'd do better with a land vacation where you can go to the Four Seasons and be around others of your class.

Uhhh,  Would that be the part he boarded Victory?

It would be disappointing to have the ship changed if you had booked the cruise because of a particular ship, but changes can be made for whatever reason, according to your cruise contract (which everyone signs before completing their booking). It seems to me that the Liberty and Victory were changed with each other recently because of some problems aboard the Liberty - propulsion or something. I'm very surprised that Carnival or your travel agent didn't notify you of the change, but sometimes things fall through the cracks in the system.

As for the other issues, did you show your steward or anyone the cloth napkins that were stained or had holes in them? Some people enjoy different types of entertainment from others, and it seems that cruise ship shows and games are just not for you. There are so many other things to do on a ship, including relaxing in a quiet area and reading or enjoying the tranquility of the Serenity deck instead of watching the hairy chest contest that you didn't enjoy. Yes the CD makes announcements about jewellery sales etc., because many people appreciate those announcement. Not all 1500-2000 guests will be pleased with everything, but most do and that's why the ships are full all the time.

Cruising isn't for everyone, but those of us who love it, and who enjoy Carnival, will continue to cruise and look at all of the positive aspects of cruising, instead of focusing on the few negative things.

I do like the part where you are claiming the passengers are lower class because the ship is lower class. You were on the same ship with the passengers you are calling lower class meaning you are just as lower class as they are.

No anxiety. The point is...I paid for it and it never arrived. If u can't even b normal enough to see that, then u have issues. Ask yourself, "IF u paid for something, then u would expect it to arrive, right?" Like I said..."Lower class...no class, like yourself." It had the carnival logo on it anyways. If u can't even appreciate, be positive and respectful to what I have posted...then don't post anything at all. Your just making a fool of yourself.

I wouldn't let it ruin my vacation cruise.

Lost for words on this one. How do you get put on the wrong ship?  .  E-DOCS... Before you board... Little help here....

ctav    7 years ago

Must have been an awesome T. shirt to cause you this much anxiety over your cruise.

sheilaE95    7 years ago

As with anything you are the party. I can't understand going on vacation and not having fun, but judging by the way you so rudely called the other passengers low class I'd be willing to bet that most things are no fun for you. Sorry you had a bad experience and was 'harassed' by other guests but you get back what you put out.
