Nice price but a little disappointing

Sail Date: July 19, 2007

Traveled As: Family (young children)

Room Type: Oceanview

My wife and I have sailed on Carnival a dozen times between us but thought this particular cruise came up short. We were upgraded to Spa deck oceanview staterooms, which were 10 square feet larger and had floor to ceiling windows; however, they were adjacent to a flight of stairs and noise/music from the Lido deck could be heard in the room until midnight.
Also, although the ship is only seven years old, I thought its age was starting to show: chipped paint in many places; jogging track needed resurfacing.

Pros: Floor to ceiling windows in stateroom

Cons: Inconsistent level of service

Recommends Carnival Victory? No.

Saint John, New Brunswick
Saint John itself isn't noteworthy. We rented a car and drove to Fundy National Park, which is about 90 minutes from Saint John. There are many nice trails, waterfalls, covered bridges, and the ability to walk on the Bay of Fundy "beach" at low tide. It would have been nice to have had more time in the port, which would have enabled us to visit Hopewell Rocks, which is an hour further than Fundy but even nicer.
Don't Miss: Bay of Fundy at low tide
