Review summary

Our cabin was located on the 6th floor mid ship. It was the Carnival Victory cabin #'s 6371 and #6373. Unfortunately, it was directly over the band in the casino. The noise from the casino was not a problem, however the blasting noise from the band was overwhelming in our cabin. Each and every night we complained to the Purser's desk, along with other people from the surrounding cabins. We asked to have the band stop at 12 midnight, which we felt was reasonable. But Carnival would not sacrifice "entertainment" for a few unhappy guests. Each evening, the band was performing for about 4 - 5 people in that bar. One solution was to put the kareoke in that spot one night! It was even worse. We did not sleep the entire cruise. Another problem, the entertainment was poor. After cruising with NCL last year, we expected similar entertainment. Carnival does not come close to NCL's entertainment. The cruise director on the carnival ship was rarely seen on the ship. NCL's cruise director was every where. The Chief purser did try to help by giving us credit on our cards etc. and 20% off our next trip. That 20% discount will never be redeemed because we will never cruise with Carnival again.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The staff is top notch. The food was excellent and the service was fantastic. They even accomodated food allergies. They were very professional.

Entertainment

1 out of 5
Compared to NCL, it was embarassing.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
They are very nice and the staff cannot be blamed for the layout of the ship or the location of the entertainment. The cruise director is responsible for that and he should be replaced.

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
The ship was very clean but the layout was very confusing. No one knew what section of the ship they were in. The restaurant was mid ship and you had to walk through the dining room to get to the other section of the ship. When the dining room was closed, you had to go to another floor. It was very poorly designed.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The size, decor, comfort, cleanliness, etc. was all excellent. Unfortunately for us it was the location of the band below our room that was unacceptable.

Pros: The food, the employees

Cons: Our room was located over the band in the casino, our room would vibrate it was so loud!

Recommends Carnival Victory? No.
