Carnival Victory

5 Night Canada/New England (New York Roundtrip)

Sail date: July 26, 2008

Ship: Carnival Victory

Cabin type: Oceanview

Traveled as: Couple

Review summary

The ship was very comfortable and well run. It was our first cruise,so I had no basis of comparison. Did find the layout a challenge and felt there should have been better directions to navigate through the ship. Overall it was a beautiful ship.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Exceptional meals especially Dinners. Beautiful Dining Room and elegant appointments. Even when you were dressed casually, it felt elegant. Also a very relaxed atmosphere.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Entertainment was exceptional and the choice of activities were numerous and varied. Cruise Director was hysterical as well as very informative. Only negative was the female dancers in the variety shows. A smaller group of better rehearsed dancers would have been better.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Didn't deal with one unfriendly person on any staff. They were professional and efficient with no wasted energy and no attitude.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Layout only negative.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Vry nice room. Only negative was the layout of the closets were a challenge since they were so close to the bathroom. Decor and condition were excellent. Would probably go higher up next time and toward the front of the ship.

Ports of call

Saint John, New Brunswick

5 out of 5
We loved St John. Truly is the friendliest city I have been in. The Kings garden and the Pedway are the two highlights of the trip that should be included in any tour of city. We used the Horse Drawn Trolley and had a great tour guide.
Don't Miss: Kings Garden is a beautiful garden in the Uptown area.

Halifax, Nova Scotia

1 out of 5
Had a lousy tour and went back on the boat right after it was done. Nothing memorable about it. Later found out that tour guide didn't have the facts right on the Halifax explosion. Better off using a map and touring by myself.
Don't Miss: Graveyard where Titanic Victims are buried.

Pros: Food/Service/Casino/Variety Shows/Cruise Director/

Cons: Tour in Halifax/Strawberry soup
