Review summary

We cruised on Carnival Victory for a 5 night Canada cruise. The common areas on the ship were a mess...dirty dishes and glasses left around. The staff in the buffet areas made us seem like we were in their way when going thur narrow aisles to get to a table or food. Often times the food trays were near empty and slow to be replaced. There is basically no service at the buffets. The hottubs were taken over by unsupervised children and children ran rampant all over the ship at all hours. Several light bulbs did not work in our cabin during the cruise and we were told that they had no replacement bulbs with them!!! Also the toilet worked intermittnently even after we reported it. It is an average ship....This was about our 7th cruise and we definitely have had better service on Princess and Royal Caribbean. I guess that is why Carnival costs less....you get what you pay for.For inexperienced cruisers....you will like it!!!For those of us that have been around a few cruises...we expect better. Also we were delayed getting off the ship back in NYC and were led to believe it was homeland security taking longer BUT WE SAW ON THE TV IN OUR CABIN ON THE NEWS THAT OUR SHIP HAD STRUCK THE PIER AS IT PREPARED TO DOCK!!!! The PICS are on the web!!!

The public ares are a mess...dirty glasses and dishes left. Also we found a BAT on the deck near one of the pools slowly crawling away from the wet floor.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
cabin was very clean despite the toilet not always working and the blown light bulbs

Ports of call

Saint John, New Brunswick

Not much to see. The waterfalls looked more like a whirling puddle. It was a waste. Also the fog makes for very little sight seeing.
Don't Miss: I wouldn't waste my time again here.

Halifax, Nova Scotia

People bought tours onboard the ship and could have bought the same thing off the ship for half the price.
Don't Miss: Ride the FREE bus around town. You will find it off the ship!!

Pros: The shows and dining room dinner entertainment

Cons: Overall lack of cleanliness in public areas

Recommends Carnival Victory? No.
