Never getting on this ship again. Too many little things that added up to a poor cruising experience.
Embarkation
2 out of 5
The Carnival port staff were rude and demanding, yelling at people. I think someone forgot to tell them that Carnival Cruises are supposed to be fun. Maybe they don’t think they are, because they have to deal with people being idiots (come on, if you’re in boarding group C5, do you really think they won’t check when they’re calling for A2?). But we were waiting for our boarding group to be called, sitting quietly out of the way, and you were yelling like crazy.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
MDR was better than other carnival ships I’ve been on. The buffet today was a disappointment…meh.
The buffet is not designed for Americans (the ship was designed to sail out of Asia) so don’t expect a good variety of food, it’s small and there simply isn’t room.
Piano Bar
1 out of 5
The bartenders were okay…the piano player on our sailing was horrible. He had no repertoire of decent music. You make a request (popular music from the 80s/90/2000’s) and he would say he didn’t know it, then play some song about raping a woman. His name was Don…we usually hang out at the piano bar, we avoided it on this cruise.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
The spa was nice.
The pools are small.
There’s not a lot of other physical activities beside the gym.
The activities team did a good job, considering they were tasked with an extra sea day.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
So far, we have liked most of the entertainment. Great shows, the rock band is amazing. The A&D duo is named after a diaper cream…and aptly so.
Service and Staff
2 out of 5
The staff that I have encountered work hard. It is ridiculous that Carnival is cutting costs by understaffing. Your guests suffer long lines, poor room stewardship, no waitstaff in the entertainment bars, so you’re getting out of your seat to go to the bar for drinks-it’s disruptive. You’re in the black again…hire the appropriate staff levels, and pay them well.
Ship Quality

Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
We were in an interior cabin on deck one (cheap cruise) and it was pleasant enough. Very little engine noise, enough room for what we needed. Was clean. It was nice to have a glass door instead of a shower curtain. The decor will become dated fairly quickly, but it fits the theme of the ship.
I would book there again.
Ship tip
The lido deck has a weird design, there’s hardly any sunbathing space-the ship was not designed for Americans. Watch videos about the elevators prior to boarding—trust me—and then avoid them the first 2 days. Also, bring seasickness meds, even if you don’t usually get seasick. Even on calm days there’s a lot of motion in the ship.
Despite the plan for disembarkation for people to not crowd the line, everyone just did what they wanted. It took 45 mins to get off the ship from getting to the gangway deck.
They need bracelets or cards to carry, so crew can identify the idiots who don’t think the rules apply to them.
You seemed to enjoy most of the cruise except for the yelling. We’ve been on 10 cruises and never experienced staff yelling at customers. It’s usually the other way around. Oh well.
