This is going to be a different ship soon. This review probably doesn't matter too much
Embarkation
3 out of 5
Embarkation was a little slow. They put us all in a waiting area, we did not board on time. We were scheduled to be there between 12:30 and 1pm, which we showed up on time (not early). We didn't board until about 2pm
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The drinks were fantastic. Bartenders had good suggestions. The seafood shack was good, I had a lobster roll. Blue Iguana was good for breakfast and lunch. The main dining room had amazing food. The buffet was definitely buffet food, I mean we've all had buffet food. It was good, I wouldn't say it was amazing. A lot of the desserts had not a lot of flavor. There were some that were amazing. Like the chocolate melting cake. I also had an apple crack cake at the buffet that was really really good.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
Fitness center was pretty good. Lots of equipment. I had no desire to use the running track, I felt it was always too windy for my liking. We played a lot of trivia on board, and it was always entertaining.
Entertainment
I'm not a night owl. I was a little sea sick on board, that was worse in the evening. So, there were a lot of evenings I turned in pretty early
Children's Programs
I do not have children
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Most everyone is very nice. There was a bartender or two that maybe was having a bad day or something. Overall the staff is great.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
We all know this ship is going to be remade to the Sunrise. This was our first cruise ever. I could tell though that is was an older ship. The decor in some areas seemed pretty dated. It was never dirty though, they kept everything very clean.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Our room staff was so great. We always had clean towels, even though we tried to reuse them, he always changed them out and refolded everything. I'm not a very large person, so the shower size did not bother me at all. I felt I had plenty of room. Balcony was great, we used it often.
Ship tip
Disembarkation was a nightmare. They tried to call us by floor, but there were LOTS of people trying to leave before their floor was called. It goes so much smoother if everyone just tries to go when it's their turn. It made it a mess. This isn't just for the Triumph, I'm not sure if Carnival does their disembarkation this way on all or most ships. BUT if they do it by floor, please wait for your floor to be called. It will go smoother for you, and for others...they do it that way for a reason lol. When everyone tries to use the elevators at once, no one wins.
We did lots of tours. None that we purchased through the ship or through cruiseline.com There is a lot of things to do in New Orleans though. Lots of really good food.
Our tour was good. We booked through the cruise line. It was the Ancient City of Tulum. We booked it because we thought we would be getting a beach break with it. It wasn't really a beach break..There is a place where you can go to the ocean, there wasn't really any swimming. We only kind of walked in the water a bit. We were hoping for more then that, and the description on the website makes it seem like it was more of a beach break then what we got. That's the only reason I gave it a 4 star instead of 5.
It was awful. I don't know who to blame though, the cruiseline I guess tried to keep it organized. It was the people on the ship who were trying to disembark all at once, instead of by floor
