Review summary

We really enjoyed our cruise, from the time in the sun to the excursions and the food and drinks, it was a great way for us to celebrate our anniversary.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Really pleased with the embarkation process for the Triumph in New Orleans. We parked in the parking deck that was connected to the terminal, which was really nice on the return. Carnival had grouped waiting areas with chairs to handle the large number of folks embarking at the same time and the lines moved relatively quickly when you consider they were dealing with 1000+ people. Carnival took our bags in the parking deck (which they delivered to our room), so we were free to get on the ship without the burden of baggage. They had lunch prepared for us and a place to hangout until our room was ready. I thought the process was fairly simple and reasonably quick.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food and drink experience was great; there was always something to eat. Dinner was good and Guy's Burger Joint was great!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We enjoyed comedy shows, magic shows, a build-a-bear experience, and many others that made our time on board a blast.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The entertainers on the ship were great. From comedians to magicians and dancers to singers, the Triumph has a talented group of entertainers on board, led by Jess from the US, who is the most energetic cruise director I have ever seen (this was my fourth cruise).

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
My wife and I didn't bring our little girl with us, but we were able to attend a build-a-bear event where we built her a Cat-in-the-Hat.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
From waiters to room attendants and those assisting us in any questions we had, the service and staff were great.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
As an overall statement, the ship was clean and maintained well. The only issue with the ship was the limited access to the different parts of the ship (Forward to Aft) above the second deck. I have been on larger ships in the past where the promenade deck ran the length of the ship which made access to the various parts of the ship easier. That said, once you got a feel for where things were, accessing them became less difficult.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
For the money, the cabin was good. We mostly spent time in it to sleep and get ready, so no real complaints here.

Ship tip

Learn the layout of the ship early so that you don't have to worry about being where you want to be and not have to go up or down 3-5 decks and then back up to get there.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Again, quick and easy, particularly since we were parked at the terminal. We carried our bags off the ship to get off earlier since we had a long drive home. The customs process was easy with no issues to be noted.
