Sail date: August 15, 2016

Ship: Carnival Triumph

Cabin type: Balcony

Cabin number: 1042

Traveled as: Couple

Review summary

I guess it's no fault of the Triumph being an older ship. I have been on newer ships so it was disappointing in the layout, amenities and entertainment on the ship.  I only went because it was the only available  time to go with another couple.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
No lobster on elegant night for cruises less than 7 days.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5

Entertainment

1 out of 5
Very disappointing shows.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Super fantastic! Even though carnival has cut back on cleaning the room from twice a day to once a day (you pick morning or evening) our room captain still managed to have the rooms looking great throughout the day.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Cleanliness - good. Design - not so good.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The room itself was clean and the cabin staff was super fantastic. The bad is being below the gym/children's play area. It was constant running and banging above our heads until 2 a.m. I will never get the panarama deck again.

Ports of call

New Orleans, Louisiana

Cozumel, Mexico

If you go to the beach, beware it is rocky with rocks and corals. I cut a big gash on my foot.

Just got off this ship on Thursday I agree it is a older ship very clean. We had a good time. Was a little disappointed with entertainment

I'm going on Triumph in 2 days . Then the Dream in October. Super excited!!!! Glad to hear mostly good reviews about Triumph.

Being from the Nola area I cruise the Dream and the Triumph often. The Dream is definitely a nicer ship with more to do but I would not hesitate to continue booking the Triumph. I think she's in very good shape for her age and there's still lots to do. Also I think the Triumph's crew is one of the best out there.

Comparing a new ship to an older one is disappointing, no way to do that honestly and fairly. Your last sentence says a lot, it wasn't really the ship that was disappointing as it was the time availability.
