Review summary

i have traveled carnival before, but never on the triumph.  i hope my experience is just limited to this ship.  the ship was not near as clean as others.  when we started of with our safety training, we were sent to an area, that was filthy dirty (H).  the food was not as good as others. in the past we could tell the cooks what we wanted for the stir fry.  this time everything was selected for you, which was not always tasty.  in the dining room, my husband got grilled chicken, it was barely warm and no seasoned taste whatever.  he sent it back and had it replaced with chicken nuggets. the entertainment was cut down tremendously. on the first night, no show offered. not enough varied entertainment. not everyone is up for a smoke-filled room of gambling. the shows tue & thurs were good. but would have enjoyed something at least one more night.  leaving the ship could have been more organized. it got a bit chaotic.

I just finished cruising on this ship on the 21st. I will preface this by saying these are my opinions and my experience only. Four of the five nights the boat was rocking quite a bit. Last night of the cruise was pretty smooth. The embarkation process was not smooth/ if you have priority embarkation status it was a joke to think it was any faster. The lines were not clearly marked and also when I arrived at 11 the terminal was already completely full of people so I'm not sure what happened to the staggered embarkation time? They do have the American Table menu for which I did not care for as I do not eat things such as veal, rabbit, frog legs or Ox tongue. The Big Easy show the last night of the cruise was a good dinner show and one of the comedians was hilarious....other one not so much. Trying to eat lunch on the Lido deck going through the main food lines took a tremendous amount of time due to the set up of the lines. Salad bar was mixed in with the two buffet lines that merge together at end of each line. For 4 of the 5 days I just had a Guys burger for lunch because it was quicker.... and they are really good also btw. People are saying negative things about the shape of the ship I thought it looked fine. Staff were great as usual.

Great news! Thank you and I'm glad you had a good time. :)

I just got off the Triumph, it was a great time. No, it's not brand new or as big as some other ships. However I had great service, a great time relaxing in the sun and drinking. We went to a couple of comedy shows and the towel animal instruction, which was surprisingly fun. We just booked another cruise on the Triumph. :)

Did u write Carnival about your experience? I'm sorry to hear this, that just sucks. .

teresaarnett    8 years ago

Complaints as we did. Just not up to Carnivals standards on this cruise. I truly hope this is not going to become standard for future cruises. We had a balcony, but could hardly move in the room, and it was just 3 of us

teresaarnett    8 years ago

Employees did not seem happy on this cruise and it showed tremendously! No communication between staff. Everyone I spoke with while on board ( in the buffet line, waiting on the shows to start, in guest services line and in the dining room) and some of these people had anywhere from 3 cruises to 30 cruises on Carnival - had all the same

KimTony    8 years ago

Very sorry you had a bad experience. Our room steward, Duncan, was very nice and took very good care of us.

teresaarnett    8 years ago

First nite on board, the pullout bed was broken in middle ( we raised mattress and found it was missing 2-3 springs across the middle) and the steward came to look at it and said " nothing wrong with bed- put a pillow there"! I did get a new roll away the next morning when u complained again. Back was killing me

:( not feeling optomistic. .

Service in the dining room was horrible. 2 hours to get the food on several nights. The buffet closed at 230 everyday (couldn't even get a salad) and a couple of times we had to go to 2-3 drink dispensers just to find one that worked. The employees just said " find another one that is working".

Debarked the triumph this morning. This was my 10th cruise and first time on the Triumph- AND THE LAST TIME ON THIS SHIP!! I called for more towels and it took 3 hrs to get them - and the room they were in was just down the hall, never did get a room service menu, called for ice(we didn't even have an ice bucket in the room) and yes- 2 hrs later we got it thru room service. Service in dining room

I hit the 15 limit on one sea day but the rest of the days I was anywhere between 6 to 10 drinks. It was well worth it to me too. This will be only my second cruise but I fell in love with cruising the first time around.

KimTony    8 years ago

We got good use out of our cheers package! 😜

01melinda    8 years ago

I have just a mere 9 days left. Can't wait. Cheers package already purchased. The more I drink the less I care about. I'm pretty easy going anyway.

KimTony    8 years ago

*shows not shoes! ;-)

KimTony    8 years ago

Yes, the earlier shows of course were pg-13 I believe and the later shoes of course we're for over 18

cruisefanatic59    8 years ago

Did they still offer multiple comedy shows each night? The comedy shows are the one of the things I enjoy the most on the cruise. Being able to go to show .....not have to worry about driving home after drinking anything lol.

JPippens    8 years ago

Checked our room twice a day. Shows were scaled back to day at sea days and waiters responsible for too many tables were my only beef

JPippens    8 years ago

I have found that this cruise I am getting off of this morning lived up to Carnival expectations. The only downside was that the last night of sailing was choppy weather and as with all of the smaller of the boats in the fleet there was rocking and I had a little queasiness this is definitely not a fault of carnival. Others in my party did voice concerns about turn down service but my Steward

Trying ox tounge is now a must try on my cruise.

KimTony    8 years ago

Yes it was tasty... Just very mushy.. Lol

01melinda    8 years ago

Tasty fat? Lol you know because there is some fat that's tastier than others. Lol seriously though.

KimTony    8 years ago

It was kind of like eating a piece of fat! :/

01melinda    8 years ago

Ox tounge? I may have to try it just because I can.

KimTony    8 years ago

There were many options.: braised rabbit, ox tongue, calamari, lobster ravioli, prime rib. We were there to try the different food choices and no what we can normally get here at home. The only complaint I have is that there were too many young kids running about the boat, and it was nearly impossible to get in the pool or hot tubs because of that. We just chose the wrong time for us. (Sprng break

We got off the ship this past Saturday, the first trip for her back in NOLA. This was our first cruise, so I don't have anything to compare it to. Yes, our bathroom was pink, but the decorations don't bother me, I wasn't there to stay in the bathroom. The food was delicious, in my opinion. We ate in the dining room every night.

perrywalden3    8 years ago

I took it to mean that this was his first time on the Triumph. We are sailing her in September with our entire family. I'm hoping for the best and will the best of whatever we get!

Rlword19    8 years ago

The first sentence says that you have never cruised on the Triumph. Why are you leaving a review of the Triumph if you have never been on it? Seems like you should have left this review on the ship you actually went on..... :/

Heard some good reviews on other feess

Cassadyalicia our first cruise will be November 12

mbreck    8 years ago

Yes, would love to hear anything you all have to say. Have fun!

This is my 17th Carnival Cruise and I will make sure I come back here and post when I get off the ship a week from tomorrow. I am pretty picky about most things and have never had a problem on Carnival and have always had a good time with the exception of once on the ship Glory and that was because the staff there were not their usual friendly and entertaining selves as majority of Carnival crew members are on all the other cruises I have been on... I think Carnival is the best bang for the buck as far as vacations go!

Leaving in Nov for my first cruise and I hope we have a good trip

breleigh01    8 years ago

Leaving in 30 days out of New Orleans. I am a first time cruiser so really hoping for a great time, hoping they get it together before my sail date!

mbreck    8 years ago

Plz let us know your experience, will you? Hope it's fabulous

01melinda    8 years ago

Leaving in 11 days. I've only been on one other ship so I don't have much to compare to. It was the Fascination same time last year. I hope I'm not disappointed but I usually try to make the best of stuff anyway. I would prefer a morning clean not a turn down.

I am hoping it is the cruise director for the entertainment part and not fleet wide cut backs.

mbreck    8 years ago

This is all sad news. ..

kmeyes    8 years ago

I have been on the triumph twice and am sad to see the service and food were not as good the second time. The American table was decent and edible but not quite the same as previous cruise. The entertainment was also scaled back and you are asked to choose if you want your room made up in morning or turned down at night. The option is available to choose morning and night but we just chose even

mbreck    8 years ago

Yed, plz do and i hope is better this time. ..

cruisefanatic59    8 years ago

I will definitely come back and post my findings after my trip.

cruisefanatic59    8 years ago

I hope that was an isolated experience. I have been on this ship twice previously and will Embark again Saturday. I know the menus have changed over most of the ships to something called American table and a lot of people have complained about the change of the food. The only bad thing I remember about Triumph from before was some of the decorations and things such as the pink sinks in the cabin bathrooms were outdated. I hope I'm not disappointed this time.😏
