Carnival Triumph

5 Night Canada/New England (New York Roundtrip)

Sail date: August 01, 2009

Ship: Carnival Triumph

Cabin type: Inside

Traveled as: Family (older children)

Review summary

The ship was very nice with the exception of the restrooms at the shows. The Captains and Returning Cruisors Party was very top notch. Boarding in NYC has been the best. We have cruised out of every Florida port as well as San Juan. A total of more than 10 cruises. This is the third time out of NYC and it is by far the easiest boarding and disembarking point so far.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

Good for this cruise. You can tell they have cut back on variety due to the economy.

Service and Staff

This is the first time I have ever heard the dinning staff "gently" remind you of the rules of being prompt.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
It would have received an exccellant rating except for the restrooms near the theater. I have been on over 10 cruises and never saw a restroom, at any time of the day, that was not well kept except for this cruise.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
It was a nice inside cabin that was comparable to all the other cruises. However, , Carnival or whoever you book your cruise with should let you know before you book one of the cabins underneath the pool that on some mornings the pool will be filled around 5 or 6 AM and you will definitely hear the water rushing through the pipes on the other side of your cabin wall.

Ports of call

Halifax, Nova Scotia

3 out of 5
Once again very friendly people. City was much larger and therefore not as comfortable as St. John's.
Don't Miss: Having lunch on the bay at one of the local establishments

Saint John, New Brunswick

5 out of 5
People were very friendly and the town was very close to the dock.
Don't Miss: Having lunch on the bay at one of the local establishments.

Pros: The Ship and Port of Calls were very relaxing.

Cons: The fact that Deck 3 was not available almost the entire cruise.
