We chose this cruise for 2 reasons: The port was close to home and we wanted a warm winter getaway. This cruise gave us what we needed. The Sunshine is ideal for getting you to the warm, sunshine.
Embarkation
3 out of 5
Somewhat confusing due to the fact that the procedure has been changed a little. You now go to a satellite building, process there and then get on a shuttle to go to the main terminal. From there, you go through the terminal and board the ship.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Good food on a limited menu at the MDR, Lido etc. We preferred the MDR over the Lido so we could sit and enjoy our meals. Quality was fine, not gourmet but very good.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
No rock climbing for us at 69 and 70. We enjoyed just relaxing on the ship.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
Shows with one night’s exception were high quality and exciting. Actually participated in one and had a great time.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Well above average. Anthony our room steward was flawless.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The Sunshine is an older ship, and with that in mind it does not have a few of the most conveniences like multiple outlets for charging devices. HINT: There is one hidden behind the TV. We had an ocean view set up for 3 and had plenty of room. The only problem is moving forward or aft on some decks due to the galley blocking movement on that deck. More of a ship design situation than anything else.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Good and roomy due to the design. Located below the balcony cabins, our ocean view was the same size as the cabins above, with the area inside the same as the cabins above, including their balcony. Decor a little dated but still clean and attractive. Heard some other earlier reviews complaining about temperatures in the cabins, we had no issues.
Ship tip
Go and have a great, relaxing time on an older, value-priced ship. Lots of things to do. Have fun!
