Review summary

Yesterday we got off the ship as early as possible. We previously cruised on the Sunshine and loved the boat. Unfortunately, those memories are now gone. Embarkation was miserable. The Charleston port is a mess and the process of getting on the boat is exhausting and confusing. Once we made it to the boat we couldn’t get to our stateroom on the Serenity deck(11 Balcony) until right before the Safety Drill. The Food and Service. This trip horrible food and service in the main dinning room, Lido, Guys Burgers. After disappointing service and food we upgraded to the up-charge option. Our best meal of the trip was at Del Capitano-excellent service and wonderful food. Service and the number of people crammed on the boat made the trip so frustrating. The pools were elbow to elbow. People saved Chairs at the pool and abandoned them for hours. The staff did nothing to open up seating and to make matters worse-fellow cruisers removed and tossed others belongs while fighting to get cabanas(they only have 4 only the Serenity Pool Deck. Our stateroom was 4 away from the door to deck 11(pool deck). We paid extra to be there and could sit down or get in the pool. It was a joke. We are Gold Level with Carnival but we’ve decided there is no incentive to cruise again with Carnival. Sad to say, but it’s like cruising on a Days Inn when you’re paying for a Marriott Courtyard. People are crazy to upgrade on Carnival ships of this class. The people that book the cheap staterooms get the same as the people who pay the big bucks!
