Review summary

Cruise was very cheap so expectations were low. We had a good time but nothing special. Carnival App was great and very helpful on ship. Food quality good but not plentiful if that's what your looking for. Passengers were allowed to play their own music through Bluetooth speakers everywhere so don't expect any quiet areas on deck including their Serenity Lounge area. They need to hire bar wait staff or more bartenders. It's very difficult to get a drink during peak times throughout ship. Princess Cays (private island) tender process terrible. Overall I paid for a cheap 4 day cruise and that's exactly what I got. Expectations were met but just barely. I'm 50/50 on going on Carnival again.

Embarkation

No problems.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Main dining room was good. The ship rarely had Pizza available in their "24 hour Pizza place". BBQ place only open on sea days. Food often unavailable late night and mid afternoon. Bars were greatly understaffed making it hard to get a drink, especially on sea days. No drink wait staff throughout ship.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
There's nothing special just your typical cruise activities (trivia, karaoke, pool, etc..)

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Room steward was great. Waiters in dining room was great. There were no bar wait staff on this ship that I could see. If you want a drink, you'll get it yourself.

Cabin / Stateroom

We went on a short 4 day getaway and only slept in the room. It was newly updated and always clean.

Ship tip

If you want to go to private island in the morning you need to get a Tender ticket early in the morning. Tickets are gone in an hour and then you can't get there until afternoon.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

Stayed here a couple days before cruise and had a great time.

Princess Cays (Cruise Line Private Island)

You have to tender in. It does not have a pier. There were not enough tenders so many people had to wait until afternoon to go. Carnival owns this island so it's inexcusable that they don't have the ability to get their passengers to their private island in a reasonable time.

Nassau, Bahamas

2 out of 5
Very crowded port. 5 other ships were there with Carnival Sunrise. You can walk around town on your own or take a taxi/ferry to beaches.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Easy and organized. We got right off.
