Review summary

Overall we loved the Carnival Sunrise. Everything went great. Service was impeccable. Our original cabin was a porthole interior, but was upgraded to an ocean view after Carnival emailed us stating our cabin was not being used for guest occupancy. We got into our ocean view only to find that there was a really bad gas odor emitting from the vents so we had it investigated and got upgraded to a balcony for free. Can’t complain on that lol. The ports of call were disappointing. However we both wanted a more chill and inexpensive trip and decided not to do excursions which could of enhanced the ports but they felt like price gouging ripoffs more than anything. The highlight was the ship itself which is what you pay for anyways until you book excursions. Celebrated my birthday onboard and the staff acknowledged and accommodated the celebration excellently. Overall loved the voyage.

Embarkation was simple and efficient.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Best food out of the past three cruises both in main dining room, buffets, and complementary dining. Didn’t do any specialty dining.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The selection of amenities were basic, which my husband and I we don’t mind on cruises. We primarily used the jacuzzis, pools, and Serenity deck. The jacuzzis could be hotter, most of the trip they were barely lukewarm. Also didn’t like that the Serenity jacuzzi closed at 8pm.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
We don’t care for theater shows but the one we like and watched all the way through was the Love & Marriage Show which is always a good time. The musicians and DJs always performed great music.

Children's Programs

Don’t have kids.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All the staff onboard were excellent and provided premier customer service. This was the first cruise we ever had a complaint on about our stateroom having a fowl fuel odor which they investigated and upgrade us for free from an ocean view to a balcony. Stewardess were very attentive and quick to clean the room. Dining room staff was beyond excellent.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
I love the Conquest class ships. Very beautiful ship designs and the layouts are very easy to navigate. The size of these ships are ideal, not too big not too small. The cleanliness was always a priority and always saw staff cleaning anywhere we went and made sure sanitation was made a priority.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin overall was comfortable, clean, and was perfect for a couple. The balcony was decently sized and can accommodate two upright chairs, one that can recline.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

5 out of 5
Being the most popular cruise port in the world, it was very simple to get through.

Ocho Rios, Jamaica

1 out of 5
We were very excited to visit Jamaica. However, we didn’t book any excursions and because of local restrictions, we were forced to stay within the cruise port and were treated like walking wallets and felt like we were in an outdoor mall than at an exotic port. We stayed on the ship.

Bimini, Bahamas

1 out of 5
We were suppose to go to Grand Cayman but our itinerary was changed to Bimini. This port offered little to nothing without having to book expensive excursions that weren’t worth it so we stayed on the ship.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Quick and efficient.
