Review summary

Overall for our first cruise it was a pleasant relaxing experience. Captain runs an experienced and professional crew. The ship shows its age despite the renovations but stateroom was clean and comfortable and except for the smell of smoke in the casino the public areas of the ship are clean and bright.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Arrived at the time allocated and made my way onto the ship with little problems

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Overall food was very good better than I expected. Fahrenheit 555 and Cucina Del Capitano were excellent as were the on board dining rooms. Only complaint was that the breakfast buffet was cold, the food warmers were not able to keep the food hot once placed out for passengers.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Pools were crowded and hot tubs as well but overall the activities were fine.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Shows were amazing, top notice performers

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone from cruise director to stewards to bartenders ect were friendly and accommodating.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Ship was clean but suggestion if your going to have a multi million dollar renovation paint the rust spots and put down a new carpet outside the elevators which showed their age. Also get someone to maintain the elevators as it seems that 25% or more were down during the cruise.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Comfortable bed, well furnished, plenty of storage space and USB ports

Ship tip

Try not to use the Lido Deck dining during peak times because the design is tight and seating limited.

Ports of call

New York, New York

4 out of 5
Brooklyn not the easiest terminal to get to and showed it's age but the view of the city was amazing

Halifax, Nova Scotia

5 out of 5
Modern terminal within walking distance of sites and shopping. Easy on and off the ship

Saint John, New Brunswick

5 out of 5
Downtown docking and within easy walking distance to shopping and sites.

Portland, Maine

4 out of 5
Security was the strictest and customs and immigration were not ready for our ships docking time so took forever to get off the boat. Authorities need to tighten up their act but no fault of the cruise team

Boston, Massachusetts

4 out of 5
Off the beaten path but shuttles were provided at a cost to get you to places like Quincy Market

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
We arrived early and disembarkation off the ship was simple but again customs and immigration only had 4 booths open to start for 3000 passengers which made the entire experience confusing and annoying, again not Carnivals fault but puts a damper on ending the cruise
