For the most part I liked the ship. I was able to relax and have fun. We did not go to our intended destinations because of the Hurricanes, but I did enjoy the alternate ports that were provided. Overall I liked the cruise and would take it again in the future.

Food and Dining
3 out of 5
The new American Table is a bit bland and boring. I'm used to Carnival having new and different meals every night in the dining room, but this new menu style seemed like they were playing it safe. The food was well prepared but uninteresting. During lunch the ship had multiple dining options on the Lido deck such as a Burrito Bar, BBQ, a pool side grill, and a Mongolian Wok, but during dinner it was reduced to just a buffet which repeated multiple dishes each night, pizza, and the deli. Again it was all well prepared but a let down from my previous experiences with Carnival.
I went to the Chef's Table and the Steak House one night each and enjoyed both of them. The food there was more like what I expected, and I had fun learning about the galley and the types of foods they prepare. I would recommend both to anyone cruising on this ship.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
I did not participate in the onboard activities since they were mostly daily trivia games and a CLUE scavenger hunt that required you to attend a show on the very first night.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The staff did an excellent job are were always very courteous and accommodating. I never had an issue with any of the staff and would rate them as some of the best I've seen on any of the cruises I've been on.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The ship was easy to navigate after getting your bearings. It would have been nice if the shops were a bit larger. There were two main shops which were then subdivided into different sections. It seemed like they didn;t have enough room to display a large variety of anything given this situation. The casino was located right in the middle of deck 5 and allowed smoking, so for anyone allergic to cigarette smoke the majority of that deck with be unusable for most of the day.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
My cabin was well designed to maximize the available space. Even though it was a smaller interior room I still had space to move around in and a desk to sit at.
Agree with your comment on the American Table menu. One morning in was asked by the wait staff on my opinion and the lady seemed disappointed with my negative opinion.
Splendor was much better 5 years ago than what I saw a week ago. I have to disagree with your opinion of ports change. The original destination was eastern caribbean and was changed due to port closures but 2 ports were still open, then the itinerary was changed to western caribbean where a lot of storms were already happening and a hurricane was developing last week. Therefore Carnival cancelled Cozumel and the ship was basically sailing around Cuba for 8 days. Most of the 8 days were cloudy and rainy whereas eastern caribbean was sunny last week. If you are still really happy with what you got from what you paid, I have nothing more to tell you.
