Ship was not ready, half the elevators were broke. This was a failure on carnivals part.
Embarkation

Jacksonville port was the start point.
Pretty much a nightmare. They were trying to train and get people checked in at the same time which usually doesn’t work well. Automation was having issues and the staff hand no idea how to fix the problems which lead to delays. Our check I. Time was at 10:00 and at 9:59 we got a text that told us to delay an hour… once we finally got checked in, we were pulled to the side
As we were boarding only to find out that the system failed to check in my wife even though our paperwork was signed off as complete.
Ship experiences

50th anniversary linkup was underwhelming. Definitely not what we expected. The cruise director spect plenty of time to set up for the ship took dance, then after they completed the filming of it, that was it. The cruise director left and everyone was standing around waiting for something (anything) to happen. The ships blew their horns a couple of times then went in their way. End of event…..
Entertainment

Love and marriage show was great.
No playlist shows at all. Musicians and solo singers were good but that was the only choices we had.
We were under a casino deal that included free drinks while playing. However we had to track down the person I charge of the Casio to get them to stop charging us for the free drinks… half of the slots were broke for the duration of the cruise. The casino was understaffed and would take over an hour to get service if you order a drink at the table.
Ports of call not listed below but were
Nassau Bahamas and Princes Cays. Enjoyed both very much.
Service and Staff

Customer service desk was lacking staff and wait times were very long. However they were very friendly and accommodating. Room steward was great and took good care of us and the wait staff were busy but helpful.

Nice new paint job on the out side, inside was a different story. It was like they did nothing. Half the elevators were broke, a lot of worn or broke decorations in the common areas, uneven deck boards. They removed the bbq place and left the bare floor. He balcony’s were dirty, and lack of staff made it difficult for the crew to keep up with the issues. This ship should not of been put into service yet.

Brown water in sinks and tub until you ran it for 10 minutes or so, toilet broke the last day, tv was broke, missing tv remote, water sloshing in the ceiling piped due to a clog. Got the issues fixed after the second night but had to use water bottle to flush the toilet.
Hopefully some of these issues are addressed soon. We were switched from Freedom to Spirit for our Oct 2023 sailing out of Miami and disappointed reading all the recent reviews.
Certainly, hope they get these things remedied. We sail on her next month for the Panama Canal Transit. And are scheduled to be on her again in October (switched from the Freedom). Appreciate your feedback.
This is concerning. We sail on spirit January 28 for an 8 day. Switched us to spirit from the ship we booked freedom. They wouldn't let us cancel without penalty.
PattiHawaii I only spoke on our experience. Other guest on the ship that we met had similar issues as well as other things like getting locked out of their rooms, missing remotes, broken TVs ect…
We won’t be sailing on the spirit again. She is going to mobile this fall from my understanding which isn’t to far from us, but I will pick about her ship. Australia can have her back.
Thanks for the review. I believe the Spirit has not sailed in almost 2 years. It sounds like they had not gotten things up to standards for this sailing. I’m sure there were similar issues with getting staffing hired and trained at the port.
