Overall the ports were beautiful but I would not do Carnival Sensation and probably not Carnival cruise line ever again. I will be going back to Royal Caribbean where I never had issues with food, service nor amenities.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Embarkment was actually very fast and I was excited that lunch was available. Only downfall was that they lost one of my bags and I didn't get it until 3am the next day when I went to Guest Services to inquire about it.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The food on the ship gave me extreme heartburn and indigestion. I tried several medicines, stretches etc. and NOTHING worked. The lines for food were always long even if you went as soon as the dining rooms opened. The 1 alcoholic drink that I was able to drink was delicious (Pirate Punch or something like that). Other than that I drank water (which had a weird after taste) and hot green tea.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
I enjoyed the serenity adults only area but there were never enough beach chairs available. So most days I had to just sit my stuff on the floor. The pool was extremely cold and the main hot tubs were full of children so I never got a chance to try them. All the onboarding activities always started late which became frustrating because it made me late for other things I wanted to do and I was constantly just sitting around waiting for things to start. Bingo was a lot of fun and so were the trivia shows hosted by Deon at the atrium bar. I also got a massage but there was loud noise during the massage that made it difficult to relax.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
I only saw one show and it was good but started late of course.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
The staff was ok but seemed short/irritated when you had questions. I tried to buy pictures and the Pixel staff member was so short and snappy with me that I just ended up leaving. Guest services was helpful the 2 times I went but the lines were really long. My room steward was very friendly and pleasant.
Ship Quality
2 out of 5
The design of this ship is awful. You have to walk to certain parts of the ship just to get to the next floor. You have to walk through restaurants and lounges to access certain amenities and the signage is confusing. My room had little bugs in the bathroom and stains on the toilet. This ship needs a total revamp because it is extremely old and outdated.
Cabin / Stateroom
2 out of 5
The room was not a bad size for a cruise ship. Our king bed kept splitting apart while we slept which was frustrating. The room was extremely cold and there was no temperature adjustment option. There was only 1 plug in the room and 1 in the bathroom. The shower wasn't horrible but the water temperature was hard to regulate and we had small bugs in the bathroom. The room walls are paper thin and I could hear everything from the hallways and the atrium every single night.
Ship tip
Don't Choose this Ship. The food is horrible and the ship is small with few amenities
Grand Turk Island is truly paradise. The beaches are beautiful and the people were so friendly. We enjoyed the weather and beautiful clear waters. The island is very clean.
Disembarkation was confusing and chaotic. They had people carrying suitcases down 3 flights of steps. The elevators were on freight so that staff could move the bags for the people that didn't choose express checkout.
