I stayed busy with plenty to do on the ship, even port days where I didn’t get off. The pool on the aft part of the ship was always less crowded l, especially on the sea day. Loved Dion, the cruise director.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embarkation has definitely been streamlined since I last traveled Carnival out of Long Beach in December. Barely a line, I was on the ship in less than 30 minutes.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Food overall had very good offerings. Something for everything. Main dining food was very god except for breakfast. Bagel and English muffin were both so stale, they were almost inedible.
Guy's Burger Joint
4 out of 5
Better than good burger. Love the toppings bar options. Line can get long on Sea Days.
Big Chicken
5 out of 5
Holy moly this is the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. It’s amazing that this is on a cruise ship. And every person I spoke to has the same reaction.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Pools were great, rope course was scary but fun, and all lounging areas were well maintained.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
The stage shows…oof.
Over choreographed. Costumes were just confusing. Direction was off. It felt like no one from the production team spoke to each other about what the visions of the shows were supposed to be.
The performers, while talented, were miscast.
The DJ was fun and played standard songs that would make a majority happy. Guitarists and singers in the bars were good.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Room stewards was great. Waiters at certain points seemed rushed in main dining. Everyone was very polite.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
It was annoying to have to go up to the 5th deck, walk through the casino, and then go back down to the 3rd deck for dinner every night. Things felt a bit cramped. Especially in the adults only area.
Trash would be left in stairways and hallways because there were many common area trash cans.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
Typical inside cabin. Clean. The king bed separated every night where the two twins are put together, so never got a decent night of sleep
Ship tip
It is an older ship that they redressed. So don’t expect all the bells and whistles of the actual newer ships. It’s fine for the shorter itineraries, but I don’t think I’d prefer this ship for something longer.
Yes, Carnival seems to have a lot of folks that just drop their trash/food stuff wherever. And being that most ships seem shorthanded these days, it gets noticed more.
