Review summary

We chose the wrong time of year to sail: Kids out of school and tropical storms. This was a difficult cruise to rate because we had heavy seas due to the Tropical Storm to our West. It actually started near Cozumel and went northward. That caused some rough seas - difficult to sleep at night. We also had too many kids using the hot tubs. There were two pools available (one with slides), but the kids seem to be attracted to the hot tubs and want to use it like a pool. The only other issue was late night partiers making noises in the hallways. I had to call security on the second night because they were very loud (2 am).

Embarkation

It was not a bad experience. Only one person on the embarkation team was an issue. Quite the ogre. Easy to sign in, if you have a passport and 99% of the people were very friendly.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Main dining room was great. We had two great servers - Tolentino and Johanna (probably spelled those wrong). They tended to our every need and even had great conversation with us. The performances during dinner were fun.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We enjoy the shows. Not so much the ones led by the cruise director, but the game shows and trivia events.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The Deck 9 band was not that great. A little loud and music was not matched to the audience.

Children's Programs

3 out of 5
We had two grandkids use the Camp Ocean on one of the days, but did not want to return.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Great staff and attention to detail. If you get up early in the morning, you can see why everything looks clean and tidy - the crew is always making everything "ship shape".

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
You can tell that a lot of hard work goes into preparing for the next day.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
I was a little disappointed that there was not a seating area in the room. I remember from past cruises that there was a couch in the ocean view rooms. I might have had a different room in the past. But, there was plenty of storage space and the beds were comfortable.

Ship tip

Talk to the staff. The team members go out back to back to back...etc cruises, so they probably get a little monotonous. I found that a little conversation goes a long way. Use the main dining room for a sit down, comfortable meal. The main buffet is the last resort - too many people rushing and fighting for seats, unless you go early.

Ports of call

Tampa, Florida

5 out of 5
This was our home port, so we did not have scheduled activities. Always an easy port to embark and disembark.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
We only intended to do a little shopping, but ended up on an excursion to see the sights. Always a lot of confusion when you get off the boat, but once you find your preferred excursion, it is simple. We did not book in advance because we weren't sure if we wanted to go on an excursion. Shopping and fun dining was ample!

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Not difficult. Only issue it getting off the ship. Too many people were either pushing to the front of the line or did not know what was going on. Disembarking was supposed to be by assigned number, but I never heard a number called.
