Although the overall cruise was OK. I would not take another Carnival cruise. They need to step up on their amenities, food, and entertainment. We will go off to other ships in the future if we do take Carnival. We realized we should have done more investigating on the age and size of the ship. This one is old but in good shape, but is small compared to new ships.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Well organized, Tampa Port has construction so walk to parking garage is somewhat difficult, but close.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
Main dining was very poor. Food was not great, cold often, selection was rubber chicken and lousy vegies. Not up to a cruise quality for selection, or anything else. Ended up going to open buffet rather than toil through sit down dinners.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
Very few shows, poor music, amateur like. Small casino, most times the piano lounges not being used. Needs to take a major step up.
Entertainment
1 out of 5
Amateur comedian, musicians, etc. very very poor level. Some singers could hardly carry a tune. We thought it was ship-wide amateur night.
Children's Programs
1 out of 5
did not use, looked minimal
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
The cruise director was overwhelmingly too happy and obnoxious. By end of cruise could hardly stand to listen to her. Room steward in suites was great, dinner servers just ok. Not attentive.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
The ship is 30+ years old and should be sold to a small cruise line. Well maintained, but of a previous lifetime.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Nice size, clean, great view through sliding doors. The best part of the trip.
Grand Cayman was fine but little to do unless you want to swim with a creature. Cozumel was ok for brief shopping. We took an excursion for tacos, dance, and music and it was awesome!
Takes a budget cruise and gets upset because it’s a budget cruise !!!’ you get what you pay for we always cruise Carnival with low expectations and have never been disappointed
Thanks for the review. I would not judge Cruise Line based on one cruise on one of their oldest ships. It will be probably be headed to the scrapyard soon like the other fantasy class ships.
