Review summary

Ive cruised with carnival plenty of tumes, im a gold member and after this bad experience I dont know if I should ever cruise with them again. Also my credit card is still being charged 4 days after the cruise which has my account overdrawn and overdraft fees of over $160 This has been the worse cruise ever !!!

I requested an assesible room for my mom and she couldnt leave the room but a few times due to her not being able to get to the restroom.

We cruised 1/27/2020. Room was antiquated, literally wet caulk around our window. For first time cruisers, simply put, the menu you experienced was sub par at best. Fried chicken as a main entree on your final night at sea? Give me a break. Carnival many years ago set the standard for food and entertainment, The Paradise is lackluster in both. Bottom line, you paid a very low price for this cruise, you got what you paid for.

I literally did about 2,000 in spa treatments for myself and partner. Where they got me was once onboard they offered "bundling of treatments" which means for every 3 treatment you get 1 free. Of course I could not 0ass this up. But come to find out they supposedly refund all treatments purchased , then recharge you for all new treatments under the bundle program. This totally screwed up my card and in the end I was never reimbursed but rather double charged. Carnivals response was that the spa is a separate entity.

I always use a cash account in fear of this happening and I never spend over the amount I bought

The “extra” charges are usually just holds placed on the card and not actual charges. They will put a hold on the card when you board, then add any additional holds if you spend more. They don’t take the funds until the final charge, but the hold on any additional funds can take 3-10 days to be released, depending on your cards policy. As long as you aren’t low on funds in the account, it’s not an issue.

Never pay with a debit card it tells you on the website that getting charged double happens, its charged individually then the entire amount the last night, CCL releases the charges immediately its up to your bank how soon they do, my first cruise I didn't know and it happened but my FL credit union only held it 2 days, have had friends out of state banks hold 2 weeks.

We just got off the Horizon February 2. We payed our bill off with a debit card. And I purchased spa and excursions ahead of time. It took close to 1 week before they released our money. Charged me 2 times for the spa treatments and 2 times for our sign and sail account. We also were overdrawn. We got our money back. But it was a week. We are platinum members. This has never happened to us before. In explaining they said that paying with a debit card they had to take more out than our bill was to make sure there was enough money. Sounds to me like they have had trouble collecting money from people. In the mean time we get screwed. We did a conference call with the bank and Carnival to straighten it out. I wish you good luck.
