Very disappointing. I will not do a carnival cruise again. I would not recommend a carnival cruise again.
I was not impressed that during a hurricane that the captain came over the load speaker to update us on the storm and had a very thick accent that was difficult to understand, and that someone did not come on the intercom after to translate or to tell us what was said. We felt out of the loop.

Onboard Activities

If you gamble, there were plenty of activities for you to engage in. Each day there were plenty of activities regarding jewelry. (I do not buy jewelry, nor do I wear it, so to have an activity so many times a day that does not include the majority of your passengers doesn't seem like a great plan.)
The adult deck was great with the hot tubs...It would have been better if there were a swimming pool as well.
I loved the library. The games helped the time while we were inside for the day of the initial hurricane.
Entertainment

The musical shows were amazing. Those were on 3/5 of the nights. On the two excursion nights, there were no shows, which was disappointing.
The comedy nights were hilarious. But again, nothing on excursion nights...disappointing.
The singer in the main lobby. She had a variety of music. But her voice was horrible. I know that wasn't my personal opinion...I heard people complaining while walking through that area during the entire trip.
As far as any other programs...I was disappointed to say the least with the lack of entertainment that was available. From 7 pm to midnight, there was plenty to do on non excursion nights, but during the day, the ship was boring and both me and my partner felt trapped.

Ship Quality

The ship was very clean. But when you looked down at the base boards, there were gobs of paint on top of base boards that would have taken just a brief time to sand them and make them look nice. It was a half assed job on many of the detail work on the ship that could have changed the whole feel of the ship. Like the outside window of my cabin. it was splattered with red and blue paint, but the ship was white????
We were asked to leave our room prior to the time to leave the ship. While I understand that Leaving the ship in an organzide fashion is critical, Had I known that the the bottom of the boat would leave the ship last, I would not have booked that level of the ship. Also...we were told that if we checked luggage out the last day, we would be the last to leave. That was not the case...the were able to leave before our floor, makeing us angry that we didnt check our luggage.
All of Carnival's captains are Italian. The fact that he had a thick accent is common, regardless of where the Captain came from or what cruise line he is sailing on. You probably would have said the same thing if you on the Queen Mary 2 and complained that the British Captain's English had a heavy accent.
In regards to being out of the loop, as previously mentioned the Guest Service desk is always there to help and I am certain that if you bothered to look at the Hub app any information would been provided there as well. Last cruise I was on the Hub app provided a wealth of information, problem is most passengers don't seem to look for it there either. Not only that the Fun Times also had a bunch of information.
I was on a cruise that went through a hurricane and the captain kept everyone informed, the Fun Times had all the information and there was a board on the promenade deck that showed the ships location and any other pertinent information regarding the course we were taking. The in room televisions also had information broadcasted on them either by video with the cruise director or in a format so you can read text scrolling on the screen. So what loop were you out of?
Did you call and complain and demand a refund, and a free cruise? Fyi... all cruise lines have multitudes of non English speaking people...its fun, relax. Or do a Staycation next time
Just someone complaining because they think they deserve more than they get. I go threw these kinds of people all the time. This is how it works I go out of my way and they still not satisfied then I start caring and that’s when I get subbie just like you
The captain’s job is to keep you safe and apparently he did that I’ll bet you he speaks better English than you speak his language(usually Italian) Carnival has a guest service counter that you can visit or call with any questions no reason to ever feel as you put it “out of the loop” like Pamela said I think you where looking for something to Complain about
Well don't do costa or some other lines as nobody speaks English at all .....I'm sure there would be things the captain would not like about you either.. think cruising is not for you ..... Love carnival have had 22 cruises 23rd cruise in 9 days days been to great places and have amazing memories absolutely pathetic review shame you can't enjoy yourself and chill on vacation....
Sounds to me as if you were looking for things to find wrong so you could complain about them. Maybe next trip you should try to enjoy yourself and your vacation and stop looking for faults. I hope you can loosen up next time and enjoy the view and the beauty of the ocean and islands.
I hate to tell you, but it's just not Carnival. Most ships have Captains that you can't understand. I'm sure he was wonderful keeping you out of the storm., and that's what counts. We love cruising. Best vacation ever.
