Review summary

Great fun on this ship. It is an older ship but still had lots of fun acvitivies and things to do. I look forward to seeing what exicitng renovations this ship has when it gets renovated in February of 2018. The cruise director Jamie was hilarious and all over the ship making sure everyone was having a wonderful time!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
This was one of the easiest embarkation experiences only beat by the Baltimore port. We got there early and was able to board the ship several hours early. Of course our luggage was not at our room till after 6pm. But as experienced cruisers we wore our bathing suits so we could enjoy some fun in the sun and soon as we boarded!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
They were great! Only complaint was they did not have the "try this" exotic appetizer every dinner meal. We had a fabulous waitress named Olga who was not only professional but absolutely hilarious! She had us laughing in stitches every meal we were seated in her section. They had a Mongolian wok station set up for lunch 11-3pm which once we tried we enjoyed almost every lunch on the ship. Absolutely delish! The last day at sea they had a chocolate extravaganza for lunch. So many delicious things to try complete with a chocolate fountain!

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
One of the pools was closed the entire week (This is an older ship and is due for renovation in February of 2018.) Because we went in November the remaining open pool was not completely overrun with kids and we could sit in the pool and enjoy an adult beverage. They had a great comedy club, I wish they offered more shows. They also had a fantastic cast of performers who presented three shows which was great. There was lots to do on the board and so many things to keep you busy!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
They were fabulous! We wished they had comedy and theater shows every night! We enjoyed all the night life.

Children's Programs

We did not have kids in our party

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
As always the ship's staff was wonderful. Olga in the anytime dining was fantastic. Raluca from Romania in the gift shops always was friendly and so nice. The only reason why I didn't give this boat a five stars is because we had terrible experiences with the customer services department not once but twice. My husband was allergic to the shower gel provided in the shower stall and I had to ask if they had anything else he could use. They did not and were frankly rude about it. One of our excursions was cancelled at 1030pm the night before and when we went to customer service to inquire on booking another excursion they simply handed us a book and said all the one's with X's are full.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
I do with this boat had more maps and signs. Almost every other Carnival boat I have been on has signs everywhere. Maybe because this is an older boat due to renovation that's why. The common areas were very clean and there was always someone cleaning both inside and outside the ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
This was by far one of the best cabin's and bathrooms we have been in with a Carnival ship! Perhaps it is because it was an older boat but it was truly quiet spacious for a cruise ship room. The bathroom was excellent and you could actually move around and get ready in the bathroom (Most of the cabins are so small you can literally just fit one person in there at a time.)

Ship tip

I would remind them that this is an older ship and it may not have all the amenities you are used to with bigger, newer ships. Definitely try to Mongolian Wok for lunch!

Ports of call

Tampa, Florida

This was a great city. We had never been and enjoyed visiting the Ybor district and the various beaches close by (Siesta Key, Turtle Beach) We used the extended stay parking which was right across the street from the ship. Very convenient and easy to navigate.

George Town, Grand Cayman

This was a beautiful beach and we enjoyed a trip to "Hell" which is also on the island. We had a great time and walked the entire seven mile beach. Beautiful!

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
We enjoyed Cozumel and did an ATV in the jungle/Beach excursion. The ATV track was rough and bumpy and so much fun! The beach was nice but nearly as clear and beautiful as Grand Cayman. There was lots of pushy sales men/women who would come up to you on the beach which was distracting. The beach did offer lots of fun activities for kids with various floating bouncy houses on the water.

Disembarkation

This was easy, peasy again. Wonderful job Carnival! I appreciate how organized and easily we disembarked and were off the boat by 830am!
