Review summary

We originally chose this cruise knowing that it was more of a budget cruise.  Our expectations are always a little bit lower on Carnival than other companies.  The destinations on this cruise are two of our favorites.  We love Cayman and Cozumel.  We certainly cannot complain about that.  If you are looking to take your family (with kids) on a cruise, this probably isn't the right one.  Just about everything was catered towards adult shows.  They had a few family friendly shoes that you could tell had no effort put into them.  It was pretty sad.  If you aren't a severe alcoholic, don't love to gamble, and don't enjoy explicit shows, there isn't much for you on the Carnival Paradise.  The overall condition of the ship is certainly showing its age.  Our room, especially the bathroom, had a lot of mold that was making us sick most of the trip.  In the end I realized that you get what you pay for.

Ship Quality

Lots of mold in our room. We spoke to several other couples at our dinner table and they said their rooms had mold too.

Cabin / Stateroom

Cabin was terrible. Not clean, bathroom had a lot of mold. Everything was getting old and worn out.

Ship tip

If you are used to sailing on Royal, Princess, or any larger ship, don't expect much from the Carnival Paradise. It is an old ship, showing its age, and not very clean. We will never go on it again.

I love how people call carnival "budget" cruise....and complain complain complain. You would cry if you knew how much we pay for a cruise. We only sail carnival, and have never had a bad time, nor saw mold in our cabin. We do, however, find so much that we want to do each day, we can't make it to all. At least you are blessed to be enough to go on a cruise, or any vacation, for that matter.

Some people just complain about everything, going on the Paradise in June 2017, and we are very excited to be celebrating our 15 year anniversary on her.

Some people would complain if you gave them a gift certificate to a Wh%#& house. How can a boat launched in 1998 and refitted in 2008 be considered old? Did they ask you to row? My wife a I were on her sister ship Ecstasy and we found nothing to complain about.

Just went on Paradise. No mold in my room. As far as shows go, you have Hasbro the game show (family oriented). 80's show, etc. Guess I must be a heavy alcoholic, I drank maybe 4 mixed drinks, and still had a blast.

We took our 9 year old granddaughter on this cruise in March/April. She had a load of fun in kid's club, towel folding demos, musical shows, etc. Maybe we were having too much fun to notice any mold??

I will have a great time either way, and although this is our first cruise my friend who is an seasoned cruiser wouldn't go back if there was mold! Thanks for all the positive coming from this negative! 20 days and counting!

Been on this ship in July and going again Nov 7 smaller ship and older but very easy to get around on if you wanted AAA cruise then you need to pay for it. Carnival might not be the most elite of the cruise lines but there always be good when I went. Food fairly good service always top notch entertainment good. The drinks always cold and good if you wanted to take your kids try Disney.

My family and we're just on the Paradise, we had an amazing time, she ship is old but no mold in our room, she shows were epic and family friendly, if the shows were explicit we would not put our 11 year old daughter through that.

I must say that out of the Carnival ships I have been on- I have never encountered mold either! Honestly- any day at sea is better than being at home.

More feedback killing the older/smaller ships. The theme always seems to be Lets Go Cheap and then wine about it. We've been on a number of smaller ships and always enjoy what they have to offer. Carnival does not serve up mold, they just don't. Always lots to do, never getting to everything offered. Even though its the fun ship line, we dont encounter many so called alcoholics and if we do, we head in the opposite direction. NCL offers up cruises with free alcohol and imagine thats got some obvious downsides.

Sorry the ship and entertainment didn't meet your expectations. What room were you in? We are leaving in a month, and I do hope our bathroom is not moldy.
